but your Sarukuma writer Binako is here with another tasty find!

Today I’m taking you to a charming spot in Hikari no Mori, Kikuyo-machi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“BAR BiTT”.

The neighborhood is a foodie’s paradise — Sarukuma has previously featured nearby gems like
“Magari DE Banana,” “Floresta,” and “Mori no Kumasan Bon Gateau.”

There are also plenty of other great restaurants and parks nearby — definitely worth a wander!

There’s parking for about two cars right in front of the shop.

Inside, you’ll find two table seats and a counter.

The wood-toned interior gives off a stylish, cozy vibe — perfect for a relaxed meal.

Now for the lunch menu!
The pasta is made with “Kabuku Fresh Pasta” from Kagoshima Prefecture,
which is reportedly “the most delicious fresh pasta in Kyushu.”

You’ll also find handmade curry and roast beef using Kumamoto’s famous akaushi (red beef) — every dish here is crafted with carefully selected ingredients.

From 4:00 PM, the bar menu kicks in with tapas-style small plates — perfect for evening grazing.

They’ve also curated a selection of wines and craft beers from around the world,
so you can settle in for a lovely “alcohol time.”
(What even is “alcohol time”? Just go with it.)

For hot days, there’s kakigori (Japanese shaved ice) on the menu too.
It’s available for takeout, making it the perfect cool-down treat during a Kumamoto sightseeing day.

And yes — there’s a takeout menu too.

You can pick up handmade French-style deli items to take home — a stylish way to upgrade tonight’s dinner.

BAR BiTT’s Must-Try Menu Items

This time, I went for the Coconut Curry (960 yen).

Even before it hit the table, the warm aroma of spices and sweet coconut had me grinning from ear to ear.

The combination of zingy spice and mellow, creamy richness is absolutely spot-on.
The meat falls apart the moment it touches your tongue —
“so tender you don’t even need teeth” is the only way to describe it.

The sweet aroma and fruity finish are pure comfort —
a gentle, soothing flavor that wraps around you like a warm hug.

The fluffy potatoes are an absolute highlight too.

And the generous heap of veggies surrounding the curry — wow.
They’re lightly seasoned, making them a perfect palate cleanser between bites of curry.
The carrot rapée won me over with its perfect balance of tangy and sweet.

To round things off, I added the drink set (+220 yen) and chose the homemade plum squash.

The actual chunks of plum fruit at the bottom feel like a little bonus.
I’m definitely not the only one who scoops them out with a straw, right?

For spice lovers, there’s a summer-only “Super-Spicy!! Salsiccia Arrabbiata (968 yen)” —
definitely a must-try if you can handle the heat!

Honestly, it’s on my own “next time” list. (laughs)

The Cream Soda Brothers (lol) (440 yen) also look amazing!
