A Sarukuma writer’s firsthand report on “Hotel Kumamoto Terrsa” in the Suizenji Park area of Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City. Price guide: from 870 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.
Introducing Hotel Kumamoto Terrsa
Hello, travelers!
Writing to you at 4:00 AM, freezing in the early morning chill β
this is Binako, your Sarukuma writer!
Today I’m taking you to
Suizenji Park, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City,
“Hotel Kumamoto Terrsa.”

Oops, my mistake!
This is actually a fun photo spot inside the hotel.
Be sure to strike a triangle pose just like me when you snap your shot!

And here it is β Terrsa Restaurant!
There’s a paid parking lot on the premises.
If you dine at the restaurant, parking is free, so don’t forget to bring your parking ticket inside.
Free parking is always such a welcome perk, isn’t it?

The reason I came to Terrsa Restaurant today? To experience their famous Daily Sweets Buffet!
It’s actually pretty rare to find a sweets buffet in Kumamoto,
so the fact that it runs every single day is enough to make any dessert lover’s heart skip a beat.
By the way, in the evenings the venue transforms into a bar, perfect for relaxing with wine and Γ la carte dishes.

The hotel has baby changing seats, so families with little ones can visit with peace of mind.
The restrooms are also conveniently located on the Terrsa Restaurant side, making bathroom trips with kids a breeze.

They’ve got bouncers for the littlest guests,

and kids’ chairs for the older brothers and sisters too.
It’s clear children are warmly welcome here.

There’s also a terrace, which is absolutely lovely on nice-weather days like these β
you’ll feel that wonderful open-air vibe while you dine.

Inside, the dining area is mostly table seating, with a few cozy sofa seats tucked toward the back.

There are also two private rooms β open the connecting door and they become one large space,
perfect for bigger groups and gatherings.

Beyond the in-restaurant menu and takeout options, Terrsa Restaurant also offers
frozen takeaway meals prepared by the hotel chef,
so you can enjoy authentic restaurant flavors right at home.

The cafe inside the same hotel also offers lunch and takeout β another great option.

And here it is β the moment you’ve all been waiting for! A dazzling lineup of sweets.
This is what dessert dreams are made of.
Every single item on display is made fresh in-house,
so you’re enjoying genuinely fresh-baked, fresh-made treats β what a luxury!

They even decorate everything to match seasonal events β during my visit, it was Halloween-themed,
and the attention to detail had me cooing “so cute!” non-stop.

Here’s the Sweets Buffet pricing at Terrsa Restaurant:
γ»Adults: 1,870 yen
γ»Children (4th grade & up): 990 yen / (3rd grade & under): 770 yen
γ»Toddlers: 550 yen
All-you-can-drink soft drinks are included.

Even better β on weekdays, there’s no time limit!
You can graze on sweets from open until closing (14:30).
β»On weekends and holidays, the buffet is limited to 90 minutes.

The bread is served fresh from the oven.
If you’re a bread lover, this alone might be reason enough to visit!

And the bread is even available for takeout β try a few different varieties at the buffet,
then take your favorites home with you.

There’s ice cream too β guaranteed kid-pleaser!

After all that sweetness, you’ll naturally crave something savory β and no worries!
There’s pizza, french fries, and other savory options too.

You’ll also find potage soup and the monthly-changing curry that’s a huge hit with regulars.
If you’re a curry fanatic β this one is an absolute must-try!

Drink choices range from kid-friendly options to grown-up coffee selections β pick your favorite.
And here’s the cherry on top: you can take your drink to-go on the way out, which feels like a sweet little bonus.

It’s a buffet, after all.
Before you know it, your plate is piled sky-high!

A truly indulgent Halloween-themed plate.
No matter the angle, it’s bursting with cuteness.

The cream puff dusted with purple sweet potato powder has a perfectly balanced
double cream filling of whipped cream and custard β not too sweet at all.
The crispy cookie-shell adds the perfect crunchy contrast β you’ll want one after another!

There’s also a cake made with bamboo charcoal.
Somehow just hearing “bamboo charcoal” makes me feel less guilty about the sweets β anyone else?
And the little white-chocolate face on top? Absolutely adorable.

And here are the daifuku ghosts β each with its own quirky expression.
I couldn’t resist the round-eyed ones and brought a few back to my table.

Doesn’t this just scream “Happy Halloween”?
Inside is a tangy raspberry filling that pairs beautifully with the cream β a perfect match.

And here’s the star of the show β Terrsa Restaurant’s signature roll cake.
It’s even featured in the restaurant’s logo, so keep an eye out for it!
Topped generously with luxurious muscat grapes and packed with rich cream,
this roll cake delivers pure happiness in every bite.

And here’s the staff-recommended monthly curry.
This month (October), it was butter chicken curry.
The quality is honestly hard to believe for an all-you-can-eat buffet β beautifully spiced
with rich, buttery depth that practically slips down your throat. Gone in seconds!

These intricately shaped potato chips deserve a round of applause for the kitchen team!
Ghosts, pumpkins, bats β the variety of fun shapes will keep kids endlessly entertained while they snack.

The bread is fluffy and pleasantly chewy β
you’d swear it came straight from a specialty bakery.

I visited during the Halloween season, but once Halloween wraps up,
the whole buffet shifts to a Christmas theme β a wonderful way to enjoy the seasons and Japanese event culture no matter when you visit.

On the way out, the first guests get a special pretzel snack as a parting gift.
It’s for all ages β so bring everyone along for some “trick-or-treat” fun!
You can also book through their official LINE account.
(Click the image above to add them.)
Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just another hotel restaurant LINE account β
this one’s the real deal!
A single staff member personally responds to thousands of customers,
giving each guest thoughtful, individual replies.
From personal questions like:
“I’d like to plan a surprise birthday celebration.”
“What’s a good wine to enjoy at the evening bar?”
“Is it OK to bring small children?”
They patiently answer everything,
so you can plan ahead and clear up any concerns before your visit.
Honestly, chatting with Terrsa Restaurant’s official LINE feels just like texting a friend.
And as a bonus, when you add them you’ll receive special discount coupons β
so there’s truly no reason not to add them…

Whether you’re with friends or family, this buffet is sure to leave everyone smiling.
