Welcome to Omusubi Kitchen

Hello, fellow travelers!
It’s Binako, your Sarukuma writer, currently too stuffed to move after this delicious adventure!

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a charming little spot tucked away in Shimizu Shinchi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Omusubi Kitchen”.

This brand-new takeout-only shop opened its doors on October 27th.

What makes it extra special? The owner is a certified registered dietitian β€” a true food specialist.
As a fellow food lover, I couldn’t help but get excited the moment I walked in!

The atmosphere is wonderfully homey and welcoming β€” exactly the kind of place you’d love to have in your own neighborhood.

You can park conveniently right next to the shop.

The grounds are nice and spacious, making it easy to navigate with a stroller.
There’s even enough room for slightly older kids to move around comfortably β€” a real plus for families.

Must-Try Menu Items at Omusubi Kitchen

Here’s the menu!
The name “Omusubi Kitchen” might make you think of omusubi rice balls πŸ™ β€” and I did at first too!
But actually, the name uses the kanji γ€γŠη΅γ³γ€‘, which carries a heartfelt meaning: cherishing the connection (“musubi”) between the shop and its customers. How lovely is that?

The rice used here is premium Koshihikari, grown by a local farmer named Mr. Kurokawa.
There’s something wonderful about knowing exactly who grew the rice you’re eating β™ͺ

This refreshing drink is their homemade kabosu citrus juice.
Homemade juices appear on the menu only occasionally, so consider yourself lucky if you get to try one!

Next, I tried the Garlic Soy Sauce Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) β€” 500 yen.

Six generous pieces for just 500 yen β€” an absolute steal!

And the portions are seriously generous.
Even after a 30-minute drive home, the coating was still amazingly crispy β€” I was honestly impressed.

Best of all, they fry with rice bran oil, making this karaage a healthier choice that’s easier on the body. A win-win!

Next up: the Beef Steak Bowl (Bifteki Don) β€” 1,000 yen.

The black-pepper kick, the sweet corn, and the perfectly tangy carrot rapΓ©e
are so flavorful they go way beyond “side dish” status.

The beef steak comes generously topped with garlic.
The aroma alone is enough to whet your appetite!

The portion is seriously satisfying, with plenty of beef β€” making it the perfect lunch bowl.
While it’s definitely a hit with men, it’s not greasy at all, so women will love it too.

Between the warm smiles of the staff
and the delicious food that filled me right up,
it turned out to be a truly wonderful lunchtime experience β™ͺ

If you’re in the area, definitely stop by β€” you won’t regret it!
