Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District
‘Koi no Shizuku Hikari no Mori’.

It’s located in the Hikari no Mori area — the same street where you’ll find Apple Hoppe (which we previously featured)

By night it’s a popular izakaya (Japanese pub), but at lunchtime a banner appears advertising
[Delicious Set Meals Available] — and that’s exactly what drew me in! ☺️

Right out front there’s a ‘Do-Hie-Mon’ frozen food vending machine!

It sells Akaushi (Kumamoto red beef) hamburgers, udon, and other tempting frozen treats — definitely worth trying next time!

Now let’s step inside.

Just inside, you’ll find an impressive selection of sake and other Japanese drinks 🎵 Every seat is in a traditional tatami-style private room with sliding doors,
so parents with curious little ones who love to wander can relax and enjoy their meal in peace 😌

Recommended Menu at Koi no Shizuku Hikari no Mori

From all the tempting options on the menu,

here’s what we ordered:

Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) Set Meal — 935 yen

Generous portions, crispy on the outside and juicy inside ♡ Absolutely delicious! Akaushi Beef Hamburger Set — 1,078 yen

Made with Kumamoto’s famous Akaushi (red beef) — fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth tender! So good ♪ Chinese-Style Set Meal — 1,078 yen

A wonderful sampler of dishes in one set — fantastic value ♪

And of course, every dish was delicious (^^)
Stone-Grilled Omurice — 968 yen

This one was a hit with the kids! ♪
You pour the egg in yourself.Then mix it together with a spoon and enjoy.

It’s piping hot, so be careful! You get to experience multiple textures in one dish — silky soft egg, fully cooked egg, and even crispy caramelized bits at the bottom of the stone bowl.

A truly fun and unique take on omurice 😊

Oh no — I forgot to take photos of the mixing process and us actually eating it! Σ(ﾟдﾟlll)
That’s how good it was — we got too caught up in eating to remember the camera! lol

The kids even received a little gift on their way out.

That kind of thoughtful service really makes a difference.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly lunch spot in Kumamoto with delicious food and private tatami rooms, ‘Koi no Shizuku Hikari no Mori’ is a wonderful choice.
