Today I’m introducing you to a charming little cafe in Nagasu, Nagasu-machi, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Siphon Tatsuya”.

I’d heard this place serves Instagram-worthy teas, but the location itself turned out to be wonderfully unusual…
And that’s exactly what gives it such a magical atmosphere 💓💞

It’s tucked inside the “Goldfish and Carp Village Park” (Kingyo to Koi no Sato Hiroba), which our Asukarando writer has covered in earlier articles ☕✨

Right in front of the cafe is an open lawn with playground equipment, and there’s a pond just nearby.

Important note: due to past incidents involving children, guests with children aged 2 and over are asked to make a reservation in advance.

If you’re traveling with little ones, takeout is a great option!

A calm, friendly gentleman greeted us at the door.
The interior is decorated with dried flowers and tree nuts that beautifully echo the natural park outside — total harmony with nature!
And it all looks incredibly stylish 🌿🍂🍁

They also sell drip coffee bags and original T-shirts.

One T-shirt features Sai Baba — the Indian holy man famously said to materialize sacred ash from his hand. Definitely a throwback that younger visitors might not recognize (laughs)!

Glass walls let you gaze out at the trees from every seat — every corner feels cozy and inviting (^O^)

There are even hammocks suspended inside — pure relaxation 🙆

You’ll want to come back just to try a different seat each time!

Even the restroom looks like a chic little flower shop…

Siphon Tatsuya — Recommended Menu

Here’s the menu.

Try the bold, intensely-spiced “Spikey Chai”, or the slightly milder “Mock Chai”.

You’ll also find Gentle Chai and Quick Chai.
Pick the one that suits your spice tolerance!

The menu also features Soy Milk Tea, Matcha Latte, and Hojicha Latte.
All milk used here is soy milk — a healthier touch 🎶

And of course, the namesake Siphon Coffee.
It’s literally in the cafe’s name, so you know it’s serious — they brew it exactly to your taste using carefully selected beans 😍

Each drink is hand-crafted to your preference, so it might take a moment — but the wait is absolutely worth it ＼(^o^)／

How gorgeous is this?! It’s the iced Soy Milk Tea.

It’s almost too pretty to drink (laughs)

The patterns are stunning (^O^)
With pink peppercorns sprinkled like little jewels and a playful sprig of rosemary tucked in, it’s just adorable beyond words…
Really — you won’t want to drink it! 😆

But of course, we did. I asked for less sweetness, and it came out light and incredibly easy to sip.

And the hot Spikey Chai — the spiciest one on the menu!

This one was decorated just as beautifully — the look alone made my heart melt 💓💞

The fluffy soy milk foam is already packed with spice!

This chai uses more than 10 different spices (ﾟ∀ﾟ)
Seriously bold and fiery — I’ve enjoyed chai everywhere, but this one stands out for sheer spice intensity.
And it’s so delicious, you’ll find yourself craving another sip…

It’s a truly original cup you won’t find anywhere else 😋
