📌 What you’ll learn in this article
A SaruKuma writer’s first-hand visit to “iGReK,” a charming café in Tamana, Kumamoto Prefecture. Budget guide: from 1,000 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly highlights, access, and opening hours.

Welcome to iGReK

Hello, travelers! This is [Gachako], who works in social welfare by day.

I’ve discovered a wonderful café that’s friendly to children, people with disabilities, and seniors alike!🎵

Today’s spotlight is on
iGReK,” tucked away in Tamana, Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

It’s just about a 3-minute drive from Shin-Tamana Station heading toward the Kikusui area — perfect for travelers exploring rural Kumamoto.

Take a look at the asphalt at the entrance!

It’s intentionally designed as a gentle ramp so visitors with wheelchairs or strollers can roll right in.
And of course, the entire interior is fully barrier-free.

The entryway display is gorgeous. Right now Japan is in the middle of a huge dried-flower trend, and a Christmas tree completes the scene.

Inside, you’ll also find fresh flowers and small lifestyle goods for sale.

The café partners with Fleur, a local florist in Tamana City.

So pretty… so cuteabsolutely adorable!

And the prices are very reasonable, too — perfect for souvenir hunters.

The restrooms truly impressed me.

Both the men’s and women’s restrooms have wide sliding doors, so wheelchairs and strollers can enter without any trouble!

There’s also a diaper-changing area that families will love.

And then ↓↓↓

A bright and cheerful kids’ play space!
It has a door, so it can also be used as a private room.

Recommended Menu at iGReK

Since I visited during a special event, I tried the Plate Lunch (1,000 yen).

The plate is loaded with a colorful variety of side dishes.

Paired with a creamy cheese risotto set.

Cheese risotto isn’t easy to find in this part of Kumamoto, so I was honestly thrilled when it arrived.

The regular iGReK Plate (1,500 yen) takes things even further: it includes additional sides, a petite dessert, and a drink.

Here’s the full lunch menu.

The kids tucked into the Kids’ Plate (660 yen).

It even comes with a juice!

The kids were over the moon about the bonus toy!

That look of pure excitement on their faces while choosing — priceless

They also take orders for Christmas hors d’oeuvre platters.

Only a few left in stock, so if you’re interested, get in touch soon!

I was also surprised to find a young 21-year-old chef working in the kitchen!
