Introducing Takkun Burger

Hello, travelers! This is Gachako, Sarukuma’s writer based in northernmost Kumamoto!

Today I’m thrilled to introduce a hamburger food truck that mainly serves the Aratama area of Kumamoto Prefecture — the legendary mobile burger joint
known as “Takkun Burger.”

Just look at that gorgeously upgraded truck!!

Here’s the backstory: Takkun Burger first opened in May 2021, but just one month later, in June, the original kitchen truck was destroyed in an accident.
After an eight-month hiatus, the team made a triumphant comeback in February. Huge congratulations on the relaunch!

Every Tuesday, you’ll find them parked at the open lot at the Kanto intersection in Nankan-machi, Tamana District.
It’s right near Ikiiki-mura, the famous spot for Nankan-age (deep-fried tofu).

On the day I visited, regulars kept rolling up with warm words like
“Hang in there!”
“We’re rooting for you!”
“It’s just as delicious as before!”
The whole truck was wrapped in this lovely, supportive energy — the kind of community vibe you only find at the best local food trucks in Kumamoto.

And yes — fries that kids absolutely love are on the menu too!

This time I went all-in and ordered the signature Takkun Burger (880 yen).

Behold the long, thick-cut bacon (Jason-level epic!!)
plus two types of cheese melting on top.

Beneath the bacon you’ll find a signature house-made patty crafted from premium cuts that yakiniku restaurants normally discard, layered with fresh tomato, onion, lettuce, and other crisp vegetables. Talk about reducing food waste while elevating flavor!

The truck also displays photos from when the owner traveled the entire length of Japan.

If he hadn’t been so busy, I would have chatted with him all day (sob)!

I’m seriously hoping they release official Takkun merchandise soon.
