📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits “Keita” in the Keita area for a firsthand report. Price range: from 180 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!

This is Binako, a writer for Sarukuma — and yes, I really am trying to cut back on my three-ice-creams-a-day habit!

Today I’m excited to introduce you to Keita, a charming Italian eatery located in Shimizu Kamei-machi, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

“Keita -ケイタ-“

Italian home-style cooking… even someone like me, with no real exposure to Italian cuisine, finally found a place where I can enjoy it casually and without intimidation.

Keita also offers a catering / mobile cooking service,
so if you’re curious, check the website at the bottom of this page ♪

The parking lot is the gravel area in front of the shop. The restaurant’s parking spaces are clearly marked with name-engraved bricks, so they’re easy to spot ^^

Dine-in seating is available too, so if you’d rather relax on-site you’re more than welcome to do so ♪

They offer a great selection of bento boxes and à la carte takeout dishes — and every single one looks beautifully presented!

Rice Croquette — 180 yen
Lasagna — 1,680 yen / Half portion 840 yen
Wagyu Beef Sautéed in Balsamic — 580 yen per serving
There were plenty of unusual takeout items you don’t usually see elsewhere!

OBENTO (Lunch Box) — 780 yen
OBENTO

Just the way “obento” is written in Roman letters here already feels stylish!

There are 3 varieties to choose from, and the left compartment holds the soup of the day ^^ (You can swap it out for rice if you prefer.)

You can check out the day’s soup choices in the display case ♪

You’ll also find:
Hors d’oeuvre Platter — from 5,000 yen
Antipasto Set — 2,000 yen
ORI BENTO — 2,000 yen
wappa BENTO — 1,500 yen
All perfect choices for parties or special gatherings ♪

Pasta is also available for takeout ♪
There are even health-conscious favorites like the Salad BOX (750 yen) and Tomato Stew (580 yen) — sure to please!

Personally, I had my eye on the
Piadina — 480 yen
It’s a flatbread sandwich-style Italian classic, and I couldn’t wait to bring one home for my chocolate-loving son!

This time I tried the
Cauliflower Soup — 380 yen

Cauliflower soup was a first for me, and I was excited to give it a try!

The moment it hit my mouth,
the aroma of cauliflower was incredible!
It was a soft, pleasant fragrance with no bitter aftertaste — wonderfully flavorful! It really tastes like genuine cauliflower, and it was absolutely delicious!

Being a soup, I could honestly drink it forever.

Next up:
Rice Croquette — 180 yen
I also tried the sautéed lotus root ♪

The lotus root keeps its satisfying crunch, and the touch of aonori (green seaweed) gives it a wonderful seaside aroma — it’s so good you’ll want more and more!

The fun, crunchy texture makes it a hit with kids too ^^

The rice croquettes are bite-sized and easy to eat. While they’re plain in flavor, they have a subtle natural sweetness — perfect as either a snack or part of a meal!

In addition to the plain version, there are richer flavors like Anchovy too — definitely worth trying!

You can enjoy authentic Italian food at very reasonable prices, and the staff are warm and easygoing — I found myself wanting to chat with them for hours. It’s such a relaxing, welcoming spot ♪
