Boulangerie Fuku — An Introduction
Hello there! I’m Gachako, a Sarukuma writer who loves bread so much that I baked it nonstop at home throughout my pregnancy.
Today I’m introducing a lovely spot in Takase, Tamana City:
Boulangerie Fuku.

Personally, I sometimes wonder if “Boulangerie” is a trademarked name — there are so many of them across Japan, and almost every single one bakes incredible bread!

Head along Route 208 toward Takase and turn onto the small street between Kumamoto Chuo Shinkin Bank Tamana Branch and the izakaya Kin no Waraji.
Read our article on Kin no Waraji here.
Look for the wheat-colored signboard — that’s your landmark.

For parking, head past the shop and turn left into Matsumoto Parking, where two spaces are reserved.
The free public parking lot along the river is also available.
Nearby, you’ll find a charming park where iris flowers are about to come into full bloom.
On a sunny day, it makes for a perfect post-bakery stroll. Read our article on the park here.

Now, let’s step inside.
The interior is so stylish — I absolutely love it!

A wheat swag hanging on the wall adds even more character to the shop.

Strawberry Danish… 320 yen
Shiranui (Tamana citrus) Danish… 320 yen
They actively use Tamana-grown fruit and wheat — a wonderful local-sourcing initiative.

PREMIUM TAMANA Shokupan (Japanese milk bread)… 400 yen

Scones (various flavors)… 220 yen each

Baguette… 300 yen
Bâtard… 280 yen
Look at those gorgeous scoring marks!

The shop also offers a variety of jams made from fruit grown in the Aratama region.

An in-store sign read, “Rich with the aroma of butter — it’ll transport you straight to the streets of Paris.” Naturally, I had to try it.
Croissant… 200 yen, and
Pistachio condensed-milk stick… 260 yen, and the strawberry Danish… 320 yen — that’s what I picked up.
Time to dig in!

Wow… Paris really is right here in Tamana…
Flaky! Crisp! That fragrant, buttery aroma is irresistible.
A subtly sweet Danish dough topped with custard cream and fresh strawberries. Honestly, this is unfairly delicious.
The pistachio condensed-milk stick is finished with crunchy chocolate on top, giving every bite a satisfying texture contrast — I happily ate the whole thing without losing interest.
