About the Shop

Hello everyone, hope you’re having a wonderful day! 😊
This is Yuzu, your Sarukuma writer πŸ˜„

Today I’d like to introduce you to a hidden gem located in
Kasuga, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City:
γ€ŠMe no Okashiyasan》 😊

This lovely shop has been featured on Sarukuma before 😊

And honestly? I’m absolutely obsessed with their tarts! 😍

I find myself visiting once or twice a month πŸ˜†
A shop specializing entirely in tarts is a rare find indeed! πŸ₯Ί

You’ll find it tucked away in a quiet residential area behind the Shinkansen exit of Kumamoto Station 😊

The shop has the most adorable wooden exterior! πŸ˜†

As noted at the shop,
please be considerate when using the parking area 🀲

If the parking lot is full, there are paid parking lots nearby that you can use πŸ™

There’s a thoughtful waiting area set up right in front of the shop ⭐︎

Since the shop is run by just one person,
there may sometimes be a wait β€” so this little touch of hospitality is truly appreciated πŸ₯°

Now, let’s step inside! GO! GO!!!!!

Once inside, you’re greeted by sparkling, jewel-like tarts 🌟

The shopkeeper’s warm smile is just as wonderful πŸ₯°

I’m a huge fan! 😍

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I picked up the following:

Fruit Tart

La France Pear Tart

Matcha & Gyuhi Tart

Chocolate Tart

Tiramisu Tart

Japanese Chestnut Mont Blanc Tart

and enjoyed every bite 😊

Here’s a confession…
they were so delicious that I went back the very next week! πŸ˜†

So this round was a smaller selection 😊

For my second visit, I added:

Mont Blanc Tart

Banana Tart 😊

I picked up two Mont Blanc tarts so I could compare
the regular Mont Blanc with the Japanese Chestnut version πŸ₯°

So today, let me tell you all about these Mont Blanc tarts πŸ˜„

First up, the Mont Blanc Tart πŸ˜€

That towering, majestic shape is simply irresistible! πŸ˜†

The Mont Blanc Tart features cream with a richer brown color, and the tart base is different from the Japanese Chestnut version.
The chestnuts used here are imported from France πŸ˜†

Sorry the cross-section isn’t the prettiest! πŸ’¦

The fresh cream inside the Mont Blanc is unsweetened 😊

Because it’s not overly sweet, you simply can’t stop eating it! πŸ˜†

Next, the Japanese Chestnut Mont Blanc Tart 😊

This one uses locally grown Kumamoto chestnuts 🌰
It’s also paired with a lighter, more delicate tart base πŸ˜†

The shop carefully matches each tart with the perfect base β€” what dedication!

This one also features unsweetened fresh cream.

The pairing of chestnut paste and fresh cream is absolute perfection!

Comparing them side by side, you can really see how the tart bases differ 😊

Even the cream inside is customized for each tart 😊

If you find yourself in Kumamoto, please come and try these gentle, lovingly crafted tarts packed with care and flavor β€” you won’t regret it! πŸ˜€

Thank you so much for reading to the end 😊
