πŸ“Œ What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits “Tofu Kissho,” a charming tofu shop in Manganji, Minamioguni Town, Aso District. Prices start from just 180 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!

I’m Binako, a Sarukuma writer
who stays up way too late binge-reading manga apps!

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce
a wonderful little spot tucked away in Manganji, Minamioguni Town, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Tofu Kissho”.

For parking, please use the public lots within the Kurokawa Onsen area ^^

To the left of the shop, there’s also a lunch space available,
so it makes for a perfect midday stop too!β™ͺ

On the right side, there’s a traditional irori (sunken hearth)
that radiates such gentle warmth.
I honestly could have stayed sitting there forever β€” it’s that cozy.

In the back, you’ll find freshly fried tofu items β€” many customers were grabbing these to take home ^^

The signature “melt-in-your-mouth” croquette
180 yen each
The name alone says it all!

They also offer dango (sweet rice dumplings) and dengaku (skewered grilled items with miso glaze)!β™ͺ
And dengaku from a tofu specialist? Guaranteed to be incredible.
Any dengaku lover’s mouth will be watering instantly.

And there’s even soy milk soft-serve ice cream β€”
a deliciously healthy dessert option!β™ͺ

Recommended Menu Items

First up, the Tofu Croquette β€” 180 yen
I couldn’t wait to dig in!!

It’s nicely compact β€” the perfect bite-size portion.

OH MY GOODNESS!!
Crispy on the outside, gloriously creamy on the inside β€” absolutely delicious!!

I never thought I’d be eating croquettes like they were drinks…
Fluffy, melty, and irresistibly juicy,
you could easily polish one off even on a full stomach.

Next, I tried the Dengaku β€” 350 yen!!

One order comes with TWO skewers β€” total win for me.
They come with tofu and konnyaku (a chewy yam jelly)!!

The miso slowly melts over the piping-hot tofu,
creating the most heavenly mouthfeel.
The miso is sweet but with a hint of tang, making it incredibly easy to enjoy.
And that tofu! It’s bursting with rich soybean flavor β€”
the moment it touches your tongue and mingles with the miso, pure bliss!!

The konnyaku has wonderful elasticity and serious chew β€”
it’s the firm kind, so I unleashed my inner foodie
and sank my teeth into it with full enthusiasm!!

Warming yourself by the irori while savoring these treats
is the kind of happiness that fills your soul.
