Today I’m introducing a hidden gem located in
Ikutomi, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Kyoeido Nagae Store”.

This is a beloved traditional Japanese sweets shop (wagashi-ya) that has been treasured by locals for generations ( *´艸｀)

Convenient parking is available right in front of the shop ^^

As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a beautiful display of authentic Japanese sweets ^^
There were about four different varieties on display (^^♪
At just 95 yen per piece, the prices are so reasonable you’ll be tempted to stock up on every flavor!

The famous amazake manju (sweet sake-flavored steamed buns) were displayed right next to the register ^^
Unfortunately, I made the painful mistake of forgetting to take a photo…

Amazake Manju – 85 yen
A must-try traditional treat!

Just look at this glossy, perfectly round shape
It’s so adorable you’ll want to nuzzle it…

Absolutely irresistible!

The sweetness is perfectly balanced and the anko (red bean paste) inside is absolutely heavenly!

The manju skin is wonderfully chewy and warm,
with a gentle sweetness and an unmistakable amazake (sweet rice wine) aroma that’s simply divine (*´Д｀)

With such low prices, delicious flavors, and warm hospitality,
this is a shop you absolutely must visit during your trip to Kumamoto!
