Misumi-machi, Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture, home to
“Rest & Cafe Umi no Kakurega” (which means “Seaside Hideaway”).

This cafe boasts an absolutely stunning location, tucked right beneath the Amakusa No. 1 Bridge (*^^*)

Drive all the way around to the back of the shop and you’ll find the parking lot!

Dogs are welcome on the terrace seating — perfect for travelers exploring Kumamoto with their furry companions (*^^*)

While there’s plenty of indoor seating too,

the terrace seats are by far the most popular (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Imagine gazing out at the open sea,
listening to the gentle sound of waves while you enjoy lunch or coffee —
it’s truly the perfect spot to unwind and soak in Japan’s coastal beauty (≧∀≦)

Surrounded by nature and refreshed by the sea breeze,
it’s a wonderfully relaxing spot for a leisurely meal — highly recommended (*^^*)

For families traveling with kids, there’s something special: each table has a pair of binoculars, so little ones can watch the sea while waiting for their food.
With plenty of boats passing by right in front of the cafe, children stay happily entertained throughout the meal ♬

Don’t miss the autumn-limited Japanese-style pudding:
a matcha milk pudding topped with shiratama mochi balls dusted in kinako (roasted soybean flour), sweet anko red bean paste, and whipped cream — a beautiful taste of seasonal Japan ♫

Evening service is by reservation only!

The atmosphere completely transforms after dark — picture yourself enjoying delicious food while feeling the ocean breeze and admiring the illuminated Amakusa No. 1 Bridge against the night sky ♡

On this visit, I tried the Tender Beef Loin Bowl (1,000 yen).

It comes with a salad and soup on the side!

You can drizzle it with garlic soy sauce or add a touch of wasabi —
the meat is incredibly tender, and the ocean breeze somehow makes every bite taste even better ♡

I also tried the Roast Beef Bowl (1,000 yen).

This dish also comes with salad and soup, generously piled with tender slices of beef that pair wonderfully with the garlic soy sauce and a soft egg yolk (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Kids Karaage (650 yen)

The Kids Menu includes a salad, soup, and juice,
plus a little dessert treat — kids absolutely love it (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

With children’s chairs and tableware available too,
this is a wonderfully family-friendly cafe ♡
