About the Shop

Hello there!

It’s Binako, your SaruKuma writer,
recently battling a dry throat thanks to the cold winter air!

Today I’m introducing
“55-CHIKEN (Go-Go Chicken),”
located in Kitashinden, Ogawa-machi, Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

55-CHIKEN opened its doors on November 6th.
After hearing rumors of incredible fried chicken, I hit the road to check it out.

A vibrant blue exterior against a clear blue sky.
What a perfect setting, isn’t it?!There’s an outdoor table area as well,
so you can dine right here under the open sky.

Parking is available right in front of the shop.
It’s spacious enough that even larger vehicles can pull in and out easily.

Ordering is done through a meal ticket system,
so simply tap the touchscreen to place your order.
Fried chicken comes in S to XL sizes,
and karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken) comes from Kids size up to L.

They also stock international beers and spirits,
so why not pair your meal with a drink? *wink wink*

Of course, soft drinks are available too!

Both the karaage and fried chicken
are crafted with flavors inspired by different countries,
so you can practically take a trip around the world at 55-CHIKEN!

Recommended Menu

This time I went with
the Yangnyeom Chicken (Korean-style sweet & spicy fried chicken), S size, 700 yen.

Just look at this.
The mouthwatering aroma practically wafts out of the photo.
Made fresh, the flavors soak deep into every bite…

Disposable gloves come with the order, so I put them on…
and dug in like a champion!

Since I had the chance, I ate at the outdoor bench, but
my inner wild beast simply could not be tamed!

The flavor blew way past my expectations and left me grinning ear to ear!

The slight kick of spice paired with the sweet sauce is absolute perfection.
Every single bite bursts with deliciousness,
and the chicken itself is unbelievably juicy.

On top of that, peanuts and sesame seeds are sprinkled over the chicken,
adding the perfect hint of saltiness and a delightful crunch that doubles the deliciousness.

I even picked up the leftover peanuts with chopsticks
and polished them off, one by one.

Even the stylish design of the wet towel (oshibori) caught me off guard!

Next time, I definitely want to try the Devil Chicken!
