Introducing Miyazaki-san’s Karaage Shop

Hello, fellow travelers!

This is Binako, your Sarukuma writer โ€” currently inspired by my favorite TV show “Kaji-Yarou” to finally dust off the hot plate sitting unused at home!

Today I’m introducing a hidden gem located in
Kurumagaeri, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Miyazaki-san’s Karaage Shop” (ๅฎฎๅดŽใ•ใ‚“ใกใฎใ‹ใ‚‰ใ‚ใ’ใ‚„).

Trust me โ€” the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) here is seriously next-level delicious, and you have to try it!

The shop sits along the recently opened North Restoration Route, which now connects directly to Aso.
Just take the Kurumagaeri exit and turn left โ€” you’re there!

Fun fact: I only learned this area was called “Kurumagaeri” thanks to the new road โ€” sorry for the late discovery!

Convenient parking is available right behind the shop ^^

The shop window displays upcoming closed days, which makes planning your next visit super easy.
For December, the shop will be closed on:
December 3, 10, 17, and 23.

Since Christmas is just around the corner, the shop will be open on December 24, with December 23 taken as a substitute holiday. The thoughtful explanation of holiday changes really shows the warm hospitality at Miyazaki-san’s Karaage Shop.

There’s even a vending machine right next door, so you can grab a drink and enjoy a quick snack right in your car (*ยดะ”๏ฝ€)

Recommended Menu at Miyazaki-san’s Karaage Shop

Here’s the menu:
Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken)
100g (3 pieces) โ€” 230 yen
200g (6 pieces) โ€” 460 yen
300g (9 pieces) โ€” 690 yen
โ€ฆand more, all the way up to 1kg!

Imo-Ten (Sweet Potato Tempura) โ€” 100 yen per piece

First up โ€” the karaage!
I’d been driving past this place countless times, always meaning to stop, and I finally made it happen.

OH. MY. GOODNESS.
Absolutely deliciously juicy!!!

The salt level is balanced to perfection โ€” exactly the seasoning I love.
Fresh out of the fryer with a beautifully crispy coating
and chicken so juicy it practically bursts in your mouth.

Before you know it, you’ll be popping piece after piece โ€” completely unable to stop!

After devouring the karaage in the car (couldn’t wait!), it was time for the imo-ten โ€” sweet potato tempura.
The coating is wonderfully thick and looks irresistible.

SOOOO GOOD!!!

The crispy, salted coating
pairs perfectly with the warm, naturally sweet potato inside โ€”
another snack you simply can’t put down.

The sweet potato has a fluffy, moist texture rather than a sticky one โ€” just absolutely lovely.

If you’re craving authentic Japanese karaage during your trip to Aso, this place is a must-visit. Don’t miss it!
