About the Restaurant

Hello, travelers!
I’m Mikan ๐ŸŠ, a writer for [Sarukuma]!

Today I’m introducing you to
Yakiniku Yuho,
located in Shinnanbu, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City.

This yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant sits right along the Higashi Bypass,
and its bold signage makes it impossible to miss as you drive by โ™ช

โ†‘ If you’ve spent any time in Kumamoto,

this photo might just have you saying,
“Oh! That place!”

Yes โ€” it’s that famous spot along the Higashi Bypass โ™ช

Convenient parking is available both below and beside the restaurant!

The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a beautifully arranged entrance
equipped with a temperature check station and hand sanitizer!

Hygiene measures are top-notch!

The dining area is on the second floor, so you’ll head up the stairs.

On the way up, take a look โ€”

The origin of every cut of beef is openly displayed!

That kind of transparency is reassuring โ€” you can dine with total peace of mind โ™ช

The restaurant primarily serves premium Kumamoto-raised Japanese Black Wagyu,
though on some days you may also find beef sourced from Kagoshima or Miyazaki.

True Kumamoto pride. A genuine love for great beef shines through… โค๏ธ

Inside, you’ll find both traditional tatami (zashiki) seating and standard tables!

Since I had my little one with me, we were shown to a tatami room.

And here’s the best part โ€”

The room is fully separated from the next one,
and once you slide the door shut, it becomes a complete private room.

What a relief for parents traveling with kids!

My little one was happily rolling around on the tatami the whole time (haha).

Children’s chairs are also available!

They even lend out tableware just for kids.

The staff treated my child with the same care as the adults โ€”
bringing a glass of cold water and an oshibori (warm wet towel) for the little one too!

Even though my child is still so small…

How incredibly thoughtful!

You really won’t find a yakiniku restaurant this family-friendly very often!

If you’re hoping to enjoy yakiniku with kids in tow, this place is an absolute must-visit!

Recommended Menu

The standard lunchtime menu

All cuts of beef used are Japanese Black Wagyu
There’s just something about hearing those words โ€” “Kuroge Wagyu” โ€” that gets your taste buds excited!

Limited-Time Lunch Menu

Currently featuring a rare loin cut called “Megane”!
Megane? I’d never heard of it before. What could it be? Color me curious!

Still craving more meat? No problem โ€”
ร  la carte add-ons are available too!

And there’s also a lunch course menu for those who want the full experience!

This time, I ordered from the limited-time lunch menu โ€”
the Tare-Yaki Loin and Tongue Tare Lunch Set (1,200 yen).

So what exactly is this rare “Megane” cut?

Time to solve the mystery! (haha)

First, the lunch set’s accompaniments arrived โ€”
a salad, kimchi, and soup.

The salad portion is generously sized โ€” yay! ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“

And right on cue…

His Majesty, the Japanese Black Wagyu, has arrived.

You can see the premium quality of the meat just by looking at it.
Ah… divine beef.

I’ll start with the beef tongue (tan).

Honestly, grilling Wagyu yourself is a bit nerve-wracking (haha)!

Dipped in the lemon-based sauce โ€”

The tongue is cut a bit thick, so
that signature crisp, springy texture is just phenomenal!

Wonderful chewiness โ€” not tough at all!

Can you imagine that perfect bite?

Delicious! Delicious! DELICIOUS!!!

Now, the moment I’ve been waiting for โ€”

the rare loin cut, “Megane”
Visually, it has plenty of white marbling and tendon โ€” looks rich at first glance.

This one’s served with a soy-based dipping sauce โ€”

Whoa! It’s tender! But not just tender โ€”
it has a slight, satisfying springiness too.
There’s barely any greasiness. It’s clean and refined,
and concentrated with the rich umami of lean red meat!

A whole new appreciation for “Megane” โ€” discovery unlocked!

Free rice refills are offered โ€”
so of course, I went back for seconds (haha).

I really do eat a lot, don’t I?? (laughs)

After the meal, you’re served kombucha (kelp tea).

I noticed a sign in the room explaining that
kombucha after yakiniku is a perfect pairing โ€” it cleanses the palate beautifully.

This thoughtful service has been a tradition since the day Yuho opened.
It’s the small touches like this that truly make Yuho special.

So everyone โ€” be sure to head over and treat yourself to some incredible yakiniku!
