πŸ“Œ What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer visits “Mama Delica” in Oe, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto, and reports back. Price range: from 200 yen. Includes family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello there!
[SaruKuma] writer Cho-san here!

Today I’m introducing
[Mama Delica],
located in Oe, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City.
We first introduced this gem on [SaruKuma] back in 2017,
and it’s been a while β€” so here’s an updated report! β™ͺ

I have to confess β€”
back when I worked at my previous company,
I ate lunch here ALL the time.
This is, without exaggeration, one of the most jaw-droppingly affordable bento shops you’ll ever find! β™ͺ

Note: there’s no parking lot on-site,
so if you’re driving, please use a nearby coin parking.

There’s a coin parking just three doors down from the shop.
200 yen for 60 minutes
but one street over you’ll find an even better deal at 100 yen for 60 minutes! β˜†
Just a tip for visitors!
When you walk inside, there’s a counter where you place your order.
The shop opens at 11:00, and I arrived right around then β€”
orders were already pouring in, and the staff were busy at work.

The delivery area is limited,
but they’ll deliver with a minimum order of just two bento boxes.

Recommended Menu

The menu is huge β€” full of long-time favorites and exciting new additions!

The in-store menu also features
a handy “Top 4 Classic Picks” section for when you can’t decide.

The Karaage with Bean Sprout Bento β€” 450 yen, which we featured in our earlier [SaruKuma] article, is right up there!

I used to grab the Bean Sprout Bento all the time when I couldn’t make up my mind! lol
The name might make it sound a bit underwhelming,
but once you try it, you’ll be hooked β€” it’s a seriously satisfying meal! β˜†

The Mapo Eggplant Rice Bowl β€” 450 yen we also featured before is another personal favorite,
but today I want to introduce some other dishes!

Ta-da!
Chicken Nanban Bento β€” 480 yen

The box is packed with a double layer of Chicken Nanban (sweet-vinegar fried chicken).
I’ve always been amazed by the portion size,
so this time I actually weighed it… lol
It came in at 650 grams!!

(For reference,
the standard rice portion is 300 grams,
and you can ask for more or less to suit your appetite.)

Whenever I order Chicken Nanban,
I just assume I’ll be taking half home… lol
It fills you up like nothing else.

The mayo-based tartar sauce is delicious and pairs perfectly with rice.

And here’s another must-try.
Squid Tartar Bento β€” 500 yen

It comes loaded with fried squid tentacles, chikuwa tempura (fried fish cake),
karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and simmered kombu seaweed.
There’s even a layer of nori seaweed underneath.

All my favorites in one box! β™‘
Every single item is a perfect rice companion.

It’s not just delicious and incredibly affordable β€”
everything is handmade, which is the real secret behind the flavor.

There’s a university nearby, so a lot of students come here too β€”
it’s easy to see why this place is so beloved.

As mentioned on the sign,
calling ahead to place your order
makes pickup super smooth! β˜†

They also accept large group orders,
so don’t hesitate to take advantage of that! β™ͺ

For your first visit,
why not try one of the menu items we’ve featured on [SaruKuma]?
