📌 What you’ll learn in this article
A Sarukuma writer visits “Warabe no Taiyaki” in Taijima, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City. Price guide: from 150 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Binako, writer for Sarukuma!

Today I’m excited to introduce a sweet little spot located
inside YouMe Town Hamasen in Taijima, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Warabe no Taiyaki”.

If you’ve ever wandered around the shopping center with kids, you’ve probably spotted this place. Every time I pass by, the sweet, irresistible aroma of freshly baked taiyaki pulls me in (*´艸`)

So today, let me share why Warabe no Taiyaki has such a loyal following!

First up, look at these mini taiyaki! Taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes) are already adorable on their own — but the mini version is pure cuteness overload!

Peanut Cream, Custard Cream,
Plain, Rare Cheese, Ogura (sweet red bean), Caramel, Lemon Cream

With such a wide variety of flavors, they’re perfect for sharing with friends or family!

This mini taiyaki set is called “Yume Taiyaki” (Dream Taiyaki) — and it really lives up to its name, packed with a dreamy variety of flavors in every box!

Mix and match freely, and the price is super reasonable!

Kids love it, and parents can’t help but smile too ♪

The standard-size taiyaki come in:
Ogura (sweet red bean), Shiro-an (white bean paste), Imo-an (sweet potato paste),
Custard Cream, and Chocolate Cream

And every single one is just 150 yen (tax included)!

I love that the prices are tax-inclusive — no math required!

Recommended Menu

This time, I went for the standard-size Ogura (sweet red bean) taiyaki!

They even hand you a little bag — such a thoughtful touch!

I tore it open this way on purpose — to show you just how generously the anko (sweet red bean paste) is packed inside!

Quick question: are you a head-first or tail-first taiyaki eater?
I’m definitely a tail-first kind of person.

And just look at this!
Anko packed all the way from head to tail!

The red bean paste isn’t overly sweet — it has a beautifully balanced flavor that’s never cloying!

I devoured it in pure bliss!
I sat down on a bench inside YouMe Town and just savored every bite in silence.

These taiyaki are baked fresh on the iron griddle every single day —
and they’re absolutely delicious!

The shop also shares a handy reheating tip so you can enjoy that fresh-from-the-griddle taste even at home — let me pass it along!

Such a thoughtful note for takeaway customers.

First, microwave for 40–60 seconds,
then pop it in the toaster oven for 3–4 minutes — and voilà!

Freshly baked taiyaki, anytime you want.
Honestly, what could be better?

I didn’t grab the Yume Taiyaki set this time, but next time we have a kids’ gathering, I’m definitely buying it ♪

And I’ll be reheating them with a proud smile, of course! (haha)
