The warm spring days are finally here, making it the perfect season to enjoy the great outdoors!
This spring, we’re hosting a family-friendly event at the beautiful Lake Ezu (Ezuko) in Kumamoto where everyone can laugh, play, and make wonderful memories together.
The event is called “Ezu Lake Pokapoka Picnic Marche”! (“Pokapoka” means warm and cozy in Japanese.)

From hands-on workshops where you can build and paint your own chair, to exciting tail-tag games that will get the kids running and laughing, we’ve prepared tons of fun content the whole family can enjoy together♩
Bring along a picnic mat or tent, savor delicious local food, and soak up a perfect picnic day under Kumamoto’s blue spring sky!

Chair-Making & Paint Art Workshop

Create a one-of-a-kind treasure!
Build your very own chair and decorate it with your favorite colors and designs to take home as a beautiful memory♩
No nails are used, so it’s completely safe for children to participate.
Your finished chair is yours to keep and use at home.
※This workshop is fully booked. Waitlist registration only.
・Saturday, April 25 — Reception opens at 10:00 AM, closes at 3:00 PM (mornings tend to be crowded)
・Participation fee: 1,000 yen
・Duration: 45 minutes
・What to bring: Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
・How to apply: Please use the application form via the QR code (advance reservations are prioritized)

Tail-Tag Game

Run, laugh, and get moving together with friends and family♩
Kids are split into preschool and elementary teams, so even the youngest participants can join in safely.
Let’s create a day full of smiles and the joy of “That was so much fun!” memories.
※Advance registration required. Same-day participation is not available, so please plan ahead.
・Sunday, April 26 — Sessions at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM (about 30 minutes each)
・Reception: Opens 30 minutes before each session
・Participation fee: 500 yen per person (towel included)
・Eligibility: Preschool through elementary school age
・What to bring: Water bottle for hydration, comfortable clothes for moving around
・How to apply: Application deadline is Thursday, April 23. Please use the application form via the QR code.

Kids tend to work up a real sweat playing here, so we recommend bringing a change of clothes.We’ve also prepared plenty of bubble play, a timeless favorite for kids of all ages!
