Introducing BONTEMPS

Hello travelers! It’s Asukarando, writer for [SaruKuma].

Today I’m taking you to Kamitori-cho, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, to a spot called
BONTEMPS.

In June 2025, the popular Korean donut shop ‘BONTEMPS’ opened its very first Kumamoto location!

‘Bontemps’ might sound unusual, but it’s actually French for ‘good times’ — perfect, right?

Step inside and you’re greeted by rows of sparkling, adorable twisted donuts lined up in the case (^-^)v

Wait, what?

Hold on a sec!

Walk past the display case and you’ll find a cozy eat-in area (^^)

Every seat in the house is Instagram-worthy!

There’s a sink right next to the restroom, so you can wash up before and after eating — super convenient!

BONTEMPS Recommended Menu

After much deliberation, here’s what I went with!

I ordered these four (^^)

Cassis Marron — 680 yen

Blue Oreo — 480 yen

Dubai Chocolate — 680 yen

Corn Cream — 570 yen

Drinks: a cola and a latte.

Who knew the day would come when I’d eat a donut with a knife and fork?!

The cutlery makes them perfect for sharing — with friends, family, or your special someone (^^)

The donut itself is crispy on the outside, with a chewy, fluffy interior — that perfect just-right texture in every bite!

The Corn Cream had a satisfying salty kick — more like a meal than a snack!

The Cassis Marron blends tangy-sweet blackcurrant cream with mellow chestnut cream.
The candied chestnut on top pulls it all together beautifully!
A delicious surprise — a flavor pairing I’d never tried before (>.<)y-~

The takeout box is just too cute! It would make the perfect souvenir or gift!

The illustration on the packaging is adorable!
And when you open it, even cuter Korean donuts await!
Receiving donuts this delicious AND this cute? Anyone would be over the moon (>.<)y-~

And here’s the drink I’d never heard of!

Misugaru

I had to try it (^^)

A traditional Korean drink — kind of like a kinako (roasted soybean) latte, and famous for its beauty benefits!

It has that lovely roasted soybean texture going down, leaving you feeling satisfied. Seriously delicious! (^^)

Why not spend a sweet, lovely time at ‘Bontemps’ — the first Korean donut shop to land in Kumamoto?
Highly recommended for anyone craving a donut experience like no other!
