Today I’m introducing a charming neighborhood park located in Shimizumotomachi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City
[Shimizu Matsuzaki Park].

It’s a compact park, but the playground equipment is well-maintained and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. Let me share what makes this little spot special!

There’s an elementary school right next door, so on weekdays the cheerful voices of children fill the air, giving the park a lively, welcoming atmosphere.

A quick heads-up: the entrance has a downward slope, so watch your step (and your little ones) so no one trips while running in!

There’s a nice open plaza too, with plenty of room to play and run around (*^.^*)

The restroom is a simple Japanese-style (squat) toilet — good to know if you’re visiting with kids or first-time travelers to Japan.

The hand-washing area features several faucets, perfect for cleaning up after playtime.

There are also several benches placed around the park (^^)

Large trees provide lovely shade — a wonderful spot to cool off on a warm day (^-^)v
There are also cherry trees, making this a beautiful place to enjoy hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in spring!

Here’s the best part — the Kikuchi Electric Railway tracks run directly below the park, so you can regularly spot Kikuchi Line trains and even the famous Kumamon-themed train passing by! A real treat for train lovers and kids alike (*^.^*)

Of course, there are swings — every kid’s favorite!
While the park itself is small, it has four swings, so there’s rarely any waiting in line (*^.^*)

There’s also a classic slide!
It’s a bit on the tall side, but the kids couldn’t get enough of it (^-^)v

And there’s a seesaw too — perfect for parent-and-child fun (^3^)/
