Introducing Rindou Inaka Sabou
Hello, this is Kanao, writer for [Sarukuma] 🌼
Today I’m sharing a hidden gem tucked away in Shiraki, Ashikita Town:
[Rindou Inaka Sabou], a charming countryside soba house.

From the Ashikita Interchange, take a right at the end of the road, then drive straight ahead through a beautiful stretch of forest. You may start wondering, “Wait, is there really anything out here?” (I sure did, ha!) — but suddenly the trees open up and a cozy house-like building appears.
Look for the purple noren curtain hanging at the entrance — that’s your signal you’ve arrived at Ono Soba Rindou.

Several “Soba” flags line the roadside too, making the spot easy to spot from a distance.
The parking lot in front fits about 10 cars. There are no painted lines, but the open space makes parking simple and stress-free.

Right at the entrance, I spotted baskets brimming with dried shiitake mushrooms and dried daikon radish! The shiitake were priced at 200 yen and 500 yen.
Dried shiitake make such a rich, flavorful dashi broth — I almost grabbed a bag, but then remembered I already had some at home, so I passed this time 😅

Here’s a peek inside the restaurant.
The table seating area has 3 tables (12 seats total), with a small basket at the back for storing your bags.

And here’s the counter seating, which has 3 stools.
The spacing is just right, so even if a stranger sits next to you, you’ll still have plenty of comfortable room to enjoy your meal.

On the counter, I noticed an autograph from “Kataranne” (a popular local Japanese TV program)! Even Kiyono-san has visited this place.
I’m a personal fan of Kiyono-san, so this made me hope I’d run into her one day 😂

If you’re an anime fan, this is definitely worth checking out!

The kind staff also brought out tableware for my child. Such a thoughtful touch — thank you! 🙇♀️
Recommended Dishes at Rindou Inaka Sabou

This is the Set Meal (800 yen).
It comes with vegetable tempura, soba (with green onion and wasabi), kashiwa-meshi (chicken rice), cucumber-and-wakame vinegar salad, and pickles.
For 800 yen, this much food is honestly amazing value!

You can choose your soba cold or hot.
It was a warm day, so I went with the cold soba.
The noodles are thin, with a firm and satisfying chew that slides down beautifully — absolutely delicious. My son, who’d never tried soba before, surprised us all by gobbling it up. He kept shouting “chu-ru chu-ru!” (slurp slurp!) and asking for more and more!

The plate of tempura was generous — onion, bitter melon (goya), okra, pumpkin, eggplant, and more. And every single vegetable came in twos!
Each piece was crispy and cooked to perfection 😆 Honestly, the tempura alone could fill you up!

This is the Tenmori Set (1,000 yen). The difference from the previous set: it includes shrimp tempura but doesn’t come with kashiwa-meshi.
The tempura portion was just as huge, and the shrimp tempura was wonderfully plump and packed with that sweet shrimp flavor.
I considered upgrading to a large size for an extra 150 yen, but no way — even the regular size left me completely stuffed 😅
Ono Soba Rindou is run by a lovely husband-and-wife team. Both are warm and welcoming, the soba is delicious, and the whole place fills you with a peaceful, contented feeling.
It’s conveniently located between Ashikita and Hitoyoshi, so if you’re traveling that route, definitely stop by! I’ll definitely be back ☺️
