Introducing Luna crescente
Hello there!
This is Maru, your SaruKuma writer 🙂🙃
Today I’m taking you to Minami-Tsuboi-cho, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, to visit
“Kaminoura Yoshoku Luna crescente”!

This is a beloved spot serving “yoshoku” — Japanese-style Western cuisine 😍
You’ll find it tucked along Kaminoura-dori, just off the bustling Kamitori shopping street.

The restaurant was renovated this past November, with a wide doorway that opens up beautifully!
The space is a 120-year-old traditional Japanese house, lovingly restored 🏡
Cozy, intimate, and oh-so-stylish 🎶
You’ll find both counter and table seating.

There are more tables in the back, and the patterned wallpaper is gorgeous ✨

Handcrafted lamps featuring dried flowers — made by local artisans — add a charming touch. It’s a place that absolutely wins over female visitors ❤
There’s one child seat available, and strollers are welcome too.
So yes — perfect for lunch with the kids 👦👧
Here’s the lunch menu!
Every lunch set comes with
salad, soup, rice or baguette, and coffee or orange juice — what a deal!

This time, I went for the Kuroge Wagyu Hamburg Steak Lunch (¥1,000) ✨
First up — the salad and soup!

The soup contains pearl barley, giving it a delightful texture!
It has just the right amount of creamy thickness — absolutely delicious 😋
When I asked the friendly chef, he revealed it’s actually a white minestrone!!

And then, here it is!!
Kuroge Wagyu hamburg steak with rice 🐮

Here’s a close-up 😆
You can choose from three sauces — I went with the house-made Japanese-style sauce!
That generous mound of grated daikon on top had me saying
“WOW!” from the very first bite 😍!!!

And those Kuroge Wagyu juices? Absolutely irresistible ❤

The coffee was wonderful too ✨

The owner is genuinely warm-hearted — he even walked us out and saw us off at the door. Such a lovely gesture 😊
Fun fact: the Italian restaurant “Piccolina” right across the street is their sister restaurant!
I’m definitely planning to visit there next 🍝🍴💕
