📌 What you’ll learn in this article
A SaruKuma writer pays a real-life visit to Miyanomoto Park in Shinyashiki, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City. We cover family-friendly highlights, access, and opening details.

About the Park

Hello there!
This is Rikotama, your friendly SaruKuma writer!

The recent cold snap has even brought a few flurries of snow ❄ to Kumamoto (>_<)
It’s been freezing, but the kids are full of energy as always ☆
They were squealing with excitement, shouting “Pile up! Pile up!”

Today, we’re heading to Miyanomoto Park, located in Shinyashiki, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City!

You’ll find the park along Sangyo Road, near Shirakawa Junior High School!
Right across the street is Suidobata Park, so you can easily combine a visit to both for double the fun (*^▽^*)

Here’s the restroom! Note that it’s a Japanese-style (squat) toilet.

And here’s the drinking fountain and hand-washing station!

There’s also this whimsical mushroom-shaped sculpture (*’ω’*)

It’s the perfect little shelter for kids when a sudden shower rolls in!

What Makes It Special

The playground features a slide, plus…

Swings!

A seesaw!

And horizontal bars!

It was covered in fallen leaves the day we visited, but yes — there’s a sandbox too (=゚ω゚)ノ

Throughout the park you’ll spot large decorative stones placed here and there,
along with pine trees, ginkgo trees, and cherry blossoms!

Kids can hunt for pine cones,
play hide-and-seek, or enjoy classic Japanese games like “high tag” (a version of tag where touching elevated surfaces makes you safe) (*^▽^*)

The play equipment is well-maintained and looks great ♬
Once it warms up a bit, definitely come check it out for yourself ☆
