About the Bakery

Hello travelers!
This is Asukarando, writer for SaruKuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce a delightful bakery located in
Futamata, Gyokuto-machi, Tamana-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Bekary Aurora”.

This adorable little bakery is tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood (^-^)
It’s also conveniently close to Fureai Hiroba park, which we featured previously (^з^)-☆

Parking is available right on the bakery’s premises — super convenient!

There’s even a bench and table outside, so you can enjoy your fresh-baked bread on the spot.
A dream come true for any food lover!

Inside, the bakery has a warm, wood-toned atmosphere,
with shelves full of charming breads made with locally sourced Gyokuto ingredients (^-^)v

The bakery’s hard-crust artisan breads use locally grown Tamana wheat — distinctive and delicious (^-^)
Despite their authentic quality, prices start in the 200-yen range, which is wonderfully affordable (^з^)-☆

With a park nearby, the bakery sees plenty of family customers,
and offers lots of kid-sized breads that little ones will love (^^)

Age-pan (Fried Bread) — 170 yen

First up, the owner’s top recommendation — the age-pan (fried bread)!
The dough is kneaded with locally produced Gyokuto sugarcane black-sugar syrup, giving it a subtle natural sweetness (^q^)

Hot, fluffy, and freshly fried (^з^)-☆

Absolutely irresistible!

Next up, the choco pan!

The kid-friendly size makes it a perfect snack (^з^)-☆

This one has chocolate kneaded right into the dough.
The bread is soft and easy to eat (^q^)

How adorable is that little reindeer face?

Almost too cute to eat!
…But we’re going to eat it anyway (^q^)

Instead of chocolate cream, this one is loaded with hearty chocolate chips!
The bread is soft, while the chocolate gives a crunchy bite — a wonderful new texture combination (^-^)v Delicious! (^-^)v

The reindeer’s antlers are made of cocoa cookies — yet another delicious touch (⌒0⌒)／~~

The animal-shaped breads change from day to day.
They also feature pandas, squirrels, monkeys, and more — all just as adorable.
It’s exciting to see what creature will appear on each visit!
In January, they’re planning cow-shaped breads to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Ox (^-^) Looking forward to it! ☆

Christmas-Limited Stollen — 1,500 yen is also available.

This festive treat is filled with locally grown Gyokuto Honey Rosa strawberries and mandarin oranges, all dried and folded into the dough ☆
