About the Restaurant

Hello there!
This is Ayu Mama, writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m introducing a hidden gem in Riganji, Tamana City:
Baniku Dining Kinari (馬肉ダイニング生成).

This restaurant specializes in horse meat (basashi), a Kumamoto delicacy, but they also serve beef and pork dishes at remarkably affordable prices.

The restaurant sits right next to Jagatani Park (蛇ヶ谷公園) — literally just a stone’s throw away.

As I drove by, the
jaw-droppingly low prices on the roadside sign
caught my eye and pulled me right in.

The parking lot — easy to find and free to use.

There’s a sit-down restaurant…

…and a separate takeout shop. This time I went for the takeout option.
The takeout space holds just a kitchen and register — no seating.

The shop is housed in a converted shipping container — seriously stylish and Instagram-worthy!
Even the vintage Pepsi bench out front adds to the cool retro vibe.

Just look at the variety on the takeout menu alone!

And every single item is incredibly affordable
— most dishes cost less than 500 yen (a single coin in Japan)!

These prices would even make Japan’s famous discount giant Don Quijote do a double-take!

They’ve also got desserts and drinks!
Melon Pan Ice Cream — now that one really caught my attention!

Although I originally planned on takeout, my hungry son couldn’t wait. The kind staff suggested we use the restaurant’s terrace seating instead — what a relief!
That kind of hospitality really hits home when you’re traveling with kids!

We ordered the Keema Curry for just 300 yen!
Look at this portion size and quality — for only 300 yen!
Can you believe it?!

The keema curry is mild and not spicy at all — perfect for kids and anyone with a sensitive palate.

My son, who can’t handle even the slightest hint of spice, devoured every bite. Just look at his happy face!
You can see the deliciousness written all over it. ^_^

Next time, I’m definitely trying the sit-down restaurant!
