About the Restaurant

This is Sunny 🐩, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today we’re introducing a hidden gem located in Ikutomi, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture
— the lovely “Recette Bar.”

Bright blue walls and a vivid red door!
What a stylish exterior!You’ll find Recette Bar right at a scramble crossing in Koshi City — the intersection that leads toward the Hikari-no-Mori area.
There’s a roadside sign to guide you.And another sign right outside the shop.You can park right in front of the restaurant.There are also several shared parking lots nearby.
By night, Recette Bar transforms into a chic wine bistro
where you can enjoy carefully curated wines
paired with delicious dishes made from local Kumamoto ingredients!

The restaurant used to serve dine-in lunches, but since the state of emergency,
lunch is currently takeout-only.

Here’s a look at the takeout menu.

The lunch takeout is the daily-special curry.
Beef Curry — 680 yen
Thai-style Chicken Curry — 780 yen
Thai-style Shrimp Curry — 780 yen

For dinner takeout, there are hors d’oeuvres platters and quiches.
Hors d’oeuvres Platter (with bread)
M (for one person) — 1,800 yen
L (for two people) — 3,500 yen
LL (for 3–4 people) — 7,000 yen

Quiche Lorraine
M (12 cm round) — 1,580 yen
L (15 cm round) — 1,980 yen

“Today’s special is chicken curry!”
Oh right — daily special! Haha.

One option means no agonizing over the menu!!
Depending on prep, there are sometimes two varieties available (^^)

If you’re curious, calling ahead is a good idea!
If you call, they’ll have it ready by the time you arrive! they told me.

I just dropped by unannounced (haha),
so I waited in the car for a bit!

It seems they stir-fry the rice fresh after each order is placed.And here it is — the day’s special:
Thai-style Chicken Curry — 780 yen!

Take a few bites first, then add a squeeze of lemon to taste! You can enjoy a flavor change midway♪
The gentle sweetness of creamy coconut milk,

balanced with a blend of spices for a mild heat that suits the Japanese palate,
and fall-off-the-bone chicken wings simmered for a full day!
Turmeric butter rice that pairs perfectly with the curry

Mmm — so good!
…absolutely incredible!!

A delightful little treat while the kids were away♪
