About the Shop

Hello, fellow travelers!

I’ve been dreaming of doing some DIY projects,
but my current home just doesn’t inspire me.
This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in
Uchinomaki, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Oshimaya KAGU Cafe”.

Located right next to the famous Imakin Shokudo,
this cafe has a brilliant team-up arrangement —
while you’re waiting in line at Imakin Shokudo,
you can pop into Oshimaya KAGU Cafe and they’ll call you when your table is ready!

Most visitors use the parking lot right in front of the shop.

Inside, they also sell various lifestyle goods,
including cups and plates that many shoppers were taking home as souvenirs.

They even carry clothing,
so if you find yourself feeling a bit chilly, you can grab a light jacket here!
It would also make a lovely gift!

Enzyme Dried Fruits — 500 yen
The word “enzyme” just sounds so wholesome, doesn’t it?
Such a charming phrase!

There’s also a comfortable cafe space,
where you can relax and enjoy a leisurely break inside the shop.

Here’s the cafe’s signature offering:
Angel Bread or Devil Bread!
Angel Bread contains purple sweet potato,
while Devil Bread is made with black sesame.

Limited to just 10 loaves per day, so grab one quickly!

Each loaf is 850 yen,
so why not pick up both? (*´Д`)

Recommended Menu

Here’s a look at the cafe menu.

They offer set menus and a variety of drinks,
including enzyme drinks and smoothies —
perfect choices for health-conscious visitors.

The enzyme drink (500 yen) features
a rotating “enzyme of the day,” so be sure to check what’s available!

The enzyme drinks are lined up in a beautiful display —
I almost wanted to take a whole bottle home with me!

There’s also a special menu featuring Angel Bread or Devil Bread paired with ice cream —
the perfect option if you want to try a bit of everything!

This time, I went with:
Light Set — 400 yen
Bread: Angel Bread
Ice Cream Flavor: Brown Rice

Place the ice cream on top of the bread like this
and pure bliss will make you want to dance!

The toasted bread is wonderfully crispy,
and the cool ice cream pairs perfectly with it.

Angel Bread… absolutely delicious…

The size is just right —
perfect for breakfast, simply toasted
and delicious even without any toppings!

I’m so glad I chose the brown rice ice cream too.

It has an incredibly rich, toasted aroma!
It’s ice cream, but with deep, complex flavors that are simply irresistible.
It pairs beautifully with the bread.

It’s a wonderfully relaxing place,
and the staff were absolutely lovely as well.

I highly recommend stopping by — please go check it out!
