About the Shop

Hello there!

This is Binako, a SaruKuma writer, who got up early this morning,
headed over to play with the kids across the street,
and ended up going “…huh?”

Today I’m introducing a lovely little spot in
Minami-Takae, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City:
“omusubi.”

Welcome to omusubi.!
There’s space for one car right in front of the shop.

Now, take a closer look…

Right next to the “omusubi.” sign,
you’ll spot an illustration that’s… definitely not a rice ball!

Step inside, and…

It’s a BAKERY!!!

Yes — “omusubi.” (which means rice ball in Japanese) is actually a bread bakery!
I absolutely love this quirky mismatch!!
The playful sense of humor had me grinning from ear to ear (*´Д｀)

And on top of that, the bread looks delicious!

Every loaf and roll looks mouthwatering,
beautifully arranged across the display case —
I couldn’t help feeling excited.

From bagels and milk loaves to sausage rolls,
there’s a wide selection that everyone is sure to enjoy! ^^

They also serve muffins and donuts,
perfect snacks for both kids and adults!

The display case was packed with delicious-looking treats,
and picking just a few was seriously tough!

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I picked up:
Café au Lait Bread — 170 yen
Milk Bread Loaf — 200 yen

So adorable!

This tiny milk loaf could practically be finished in three bites!

The size is just right for a kid’s breakfast
or a quick light meal — totally convenient! ♪

The gentle aroma of wheat is absolutely divine,
and the moment you take a bite, the natural flavor and subtle sweetness shine through —
seriously delicious!

It pairs beautifully with soup, jam, or anything else you’d like.

I also tried the Café au Lait Chocolate Bread.

The dough was unbelievably fluffy — it really took me by surprise!

The soft, slightly chewy dough is filled with
the rich aroma of café au lait and chunky pieces of chocolate —
a perfect match that’s sure to make everyone smile!
