A SaruKuma writer visits “Shiroyama Rest House” located in Mino, Ichinomiya-machi, Aso City. Prices start from 300 yen. We also cover family-friendly tips, access information, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!

I’m Binako, a SaruKuma writer
who just can’t resist a midnight ice cream!

Today, I’d like to introduce you to
“Shiroyama Rest House”,
located in Mino, Ichinomiya-machi, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

This wonderful spot has a takeout counter and local product market on the ground floor,
with a full restaurant on the second floor ^^

There’s a spacious parking lot right in front of the shop,
so even larger vehicles or rental cars can pull in with ease β™ͺ

Right next to the shop is a breathtaking viewpoint with a sweeping panorama of Mt. Aso!!
It was a bit chilly during my visit so I couldn’t linger, but the scenery is absolutely stunning!

Inside, you’ll find fresh local vegetables, seasonings, and other regional goods on sale,
with plenty of locals stopping in to shop ^^

There’s also a terrace and counter seating on the ground floor,
where you can relax and enjoy your meal while taking in the magnificent Mt. Aso views β™ͺ

On the ground floor, you’ll find:
Age-pan (Japanese fried bread) β€” 300 yen
(Mulberry Leaf, Hojicha Roasted Tea, Green Tea, Shiitake Mushroom, Aso Takana Pickles)
So many unusual flavors I’d never seen before β€” I couldn’t hide my excitement! lol

The shiitake one is seriously intriguing! lol

They also offer Kaiten-yaki (filled pancake) β€” 150 yen
(Black Bean Paste, White Bean Paste, Custard) β™ͺ

Soft Serve Ice Cream β€” 432 yen
(Aso Jersey Milk, Premium Strawberry, Mixed)
French Fries β€” 440 yen
Frankfurter β€” 660 yen
Chili Dog β€” 550 yen
Fried Chicken (Karaage) β€” 432 yen per pack
All perfect for a quick snack on the road ^^

Recommended Menu Item

This time, I tried the
Kaiten-yaki β€” 150 yen
in the white bean paste flavor!!

The “SAI” (城) emblem stamped on top is so beautifully crafted, you can’t help but admire it! lol

And the taste is absolutely incredible!
It completely redefines what kaiten-yaki can be!

Crispy on the outside, fluffy and moist on the inside β€”
it’s almost like eating a warm pancake!
The size is just right and small enough that kids will love it too.

The white bean paste has just the right amount of sweetness,
pairing perfectly with the crispy shell. The flavor is truly outstanding.

I was completely blown away…

I’m also dying to try the age-pan,
so I’ll definitely stop by again next time I’m in the area!!
The upstairs restaurant is also great for lunch (*Β΄Π”ο½€)

But honestly, you absolutely have to try the kaiten-yaki at least once! lol

Be sure to check it out when you visit Mt. Aso!
