Hello, fellow travelers!
I recently replaced my worn-out tempered glass screen protector with one from Daiso after reading rave reviews about it.
This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer!
Today, I’m thrilled to introduce a hidden gem located in Nishihara, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Yonehaku Honpo Higashi Bypass Nishihara Branch” — a long-established wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) shop that’s a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Check out the storefront — and my son’s adorably bold pose!
He stood there as if to say, “Take my picture!” Too cute!

There are three parking spaces right in front of the shop. ^^

And if those are full, no worries — there’s also a second parking lot a short walk away. ♪

Step inside and you’ll feel like you’ve entered a treasure trove of wagashi — there are SO many varieties of daifuku (mochi rice cakes filled with sweet fillings)!

Coffee Daifuku, Matcha Daifuku, Red Daifuku, White Daifuku, Yomogi (Mugwort) Daifuku — 140 yen each

They also offer Black Bean Kinako Daifuku ♪
A dreamy combination of black beans and kinako (roasted soybean flour) — a flavor especially loved by women! (*´Д`)

As proudly displayed on the shop’s flag:
Pineapple Daifuku & Kiwi Daifuku — 180 yen each ♪

A favorite among kids — the
Autumn Strawberry Daifuku — 220 yen.
I’d never even heard of autumn strawberries before! Such a fun discovery!

They also stock okowa (steamed glutinous rice) and sekihan (red bean rice) — perfect for celebratory occasions! (*´Д`)

And don’t miss the Cream Daifuku and Pudding Daifuku!
These are guaranteed to be amazing~~ (*´Д`)
The pudding daifuku looks wonderfully gooey and rich! ( *´艸`)

They even carry celebration mochi! ^^

This time, I treated myself to:
Autumn Strawberry Daifuku — 220 yen
Kiwi Daifuku — 180 yen

The kiwi practically bursting out of the daifuku looks absolutely luxurious!

The chewy mochi and perfectly sweet anko (red bean paste) blend beautifully with the juicy kiwi — it’s so refreshing and easy to eat!
One is definitely not enough — you’ll want several!

Next, the autumn strawberry daifuku I’d been eagerly anticipating.
That glistening strawberry was practically calling my name…

The sweet juiciness and gentle tartness of the strawberry dance across your palate!
The anko perfectly catches that tartness — what an amazing pairing.
My son adores strawberries too, so he was happily devouring his treat. ♪
There are so many other delicious daifuku to discover here — be sure to drop by during your trip to Kumamoto!
