📌 What You’ll Find in This Article
A Sarukuma writer’s firsthand visit to “CAFE Macocorochaya,” a seaside donut and coffee shop in Oyano-machi, Kamiamakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Prices start from 450 yen. We also cover family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Saa-mama, writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’d like to introduce you to
“CAFE Macocorochaya,”
a delightful little café tucked away in Oyano-machi, Kamiamakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

There’s parking for about 7–8 cars right in front of the shop.
If the lot is full, you can also park at the harbor just down the road.

It’s a short walk, but you’ll get to enjoy a lovely seaside stroll along the way! ♫

The café is housed in a converted former fish shop with a striking red roof.
The exterior still looks like the original fish shop, so it’s easy to miss — just look for the red roof!

Step inside and you’ll find a wonderfully stylish, cozy café space (*^^*)

I arrived just before opening on a Sunday, and there was already a line of eager customers — this place is seriously popular!

While waiting, the sweet aroma of freshly made donuts drifts out of the shop and works up your appetite in no time! ♫

The café was buzzing with families, friends, and couples enjoying their visit.

Recommended Menu

Once inside, you’re greeted by rows of beautifully arranged donuts in every flavor imaginable — it’s an exciting sight!

The donut lineup includes Kuromitsu Kinako (brown sugar syrup & roasted soybean flour, 450 yen),
Chat Masala (350 yen), Cinnamon Sugar (280 yen),
Kinako (330 yen), Plain (280 yen),

An-Donut (sweet red bean, 380 yen), Cream Donut (480 yen),
Coconut Milk Sugar (350 yen), Framboise Sugar (400 yen),

And there are plenty of chocolate donuts too — from colorful, playful designs to simple classics.

The chocolate colors come from natural vegetable and fruit pigments,
so parents can feel completely at ease letting children enjoy them!

This time, I tried Plain (280 yen), An-Donut (380 yen), and Chocolate Donut (450 yen).

Every donut had that perfect crispy outside and soft, moist inside.
The an-donut featured smooth koshi-an red bean paste with just the right amount of sweetness — a dream come true for an-paste lovers! ♡

The chocolate donut paired beautifully with crunchy nut toppings, and since the chocolate isn’t overly sweet, you could honestly eat several in one sitting. ♡

The drink menu is impressive too, with a wide selection of coffee and chai options.

Whether you need an afternoon snack for the kids, a souvenir to take home, or a tasty companion for your Amakusa drive — Macocorochaya has you covered! ♡
