2020.11.04

A Sarukuma writer visits “Noji Musashigaoka” in Kita Ward, Kumamoto City. Price range: from 350 yen. Includes family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.
Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Binako,
a Sarukuma writer with way too much vegetable juice stockpiled at home!
Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Musashigaoka, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Noji Musashigaoka”.

The shop sits right along the road, so keep your eyes peeled — it’s easy to drive right past!

For parking, turn left at the “P” sign and head around to the back of the building.

And here we are!

Inside, the display cases are filled with beautifully crafted cakes!
With most prices hovering around 350 yen, they’re wonderfully affordable —
which is definitely one reason this bakery is so popular with locals (^^♪

There’s also a wonderful selection of whole cakes!
From tarts to roll cakes, there’s something to suit every taste.
My own kid is a die-hard tart fan, by the way!

Noji’s recommended specialties include:
Musashigaoka Cream Puff — 160 yen
Musashigaoka Choux Sablé — 160 yen
The Musashigaoka Cream Puff in particular is a runaway favorite!

They also have an Apple Pie for 200 yen!
It must be a hit too — only a few were left when I arrived!

You’ll also find a great variety of baked sweets and cookies — perfect for souvenirs!

They also accept cake reservations and create custom cakes for special occasions!

There’s a cozy café corner in the back as well.
Family-friendly touches like kids’ tableware and drinks are available on request,
so parents can drop in worry-free with little ones in tow!
Recommended Menu

Of course, I had to try the bestseller —
the Musashigaoka Cream Puff (160 yen)!
The moment you pick it up, you can feel it:
This thing is HEAVY!
It’s seriously substantial — you can already tell it’s stuffed to the brim!

Custard explosion!
The crystallized sugar coating gives a delightful crunch,
and the choux shell is wonderfully thin and crisp — absolutely delicious!
Crispy meets creamy
in one heavenly mouthful!

The custard is so generous that
you basically have to flip it upside down
or it’ll spill everywhere!
The custard has a lovely vanilla aroma,
sweet but refreshingly light —
so even with such a generous filling, it goes down as smoothly as a drink.
Truly delicious and incredibly satisfying —
this cream puff is a must-try!
If you’re in Kumamoto, definitely give it a visit!
