Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Yutomino, a writer for Sarukuma!
Today I’m excited to introduce you to
a wonderful little bakery in Hikari-no-Mori, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Fournier Stone Oven Bakery (石窯パン工房 fournier)”.

This stylish bakery has a loyal following among locals!
During lunchtime, the shop fills up quickly with eager customers!

Here’s the parking lot.
You can spot “Hoken-no-Madoguchi” insurance shop just across the street!

Take a peek inside!
The shop was bustling that day, and
a long line had formed in front of the cash register!

Adorable breads were lined up alongside a charming Halloween display!

Everything looks absolutely mouthwatering!
Recommended Menu Items

Fournier Stone Oven Bakery features a lovely terrace seating area,
which you can use freely whenever it’s available!
There’s even a trash bin and hand-washing station tucked away at the back!

Since we were there, we enjoyed our freshly purchased breads right on the terrace!
My son’s pick:
Mocchi-Sweet Potato Bread (Mocchi~ Oimo Pan) — ¥80

My pick:
Prosciutto & Tomato Casse-croûte — ¥350
A crisp, hearty French baguette
paired beautifully with the savory saltiness of prosciutto and the bright tang of fresh tomato. Absolutely delicious!

The rest, we took home to enjoy!
Left: Character Bread — ¥180
Right: Anpan (Sweet Red Bean Bun) — ¥140

This anpan is topped with a delicate salt-pickled cherry blossom (sakura),
and it’s generously stuffed with sweet red bean paste (anko)! (^^♪

And here’s the Soft-Boiled Egg Curry Bread (Hanjuku Tamago Curry Pan) — ¥190

I wondered what the “soft-boiled egg” meant, and to my delight,
a runny sunny-side-up egg was tucked right inside! (・o・)

With such a wide variety of artisan stone-oven baked breads to choose from, “Fournier Stone Oven Bakery (石窯パン工房 fournier)”
is a must-visit when you’re in the area!
