Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer!

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to
Mashiki Pudding, a charming little shop located in
Kiyama, Mashiki Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

Don’t miss my kid’s signature pose in the photo!

Mashiki Pudding has long been a beloved part of the Mashiki community,
a town that endured the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. The shop has been bringing smiles and energy to locals for years—a treasured neighborhood spot whose pudding is loved by everyone, young and old. ^^

The shop recently reopened at a new location, so I rushed over to check it out!

Inside, there’s a delightful dagashi (traditional Japanese penny candy) corner
my child had so much fun shopping around! (*´Д`)

The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming,
chatting kindly with kids too. (^^♪

With sweets priced as low as 10 or 30 yen, it’s a wonderfully nostalgic and fun atmosphere! (^^♪

They also sell juices and even alcoholic drinks!
Perfect for those cozy nights when you just want to relax at home with a cold one. ♪

And don’t worry—
they’ve got plenty of tasty snacks to pair with your drinks! ( *´艸`)

You’ll find healthy side dishes made from okara (soy pulp) and tofu,
all reasonably priced at 110–120 yen. ^^

Healthy eating without breaking the bank! ( *´艸`)

Recommended Menu

And here it is—the famous Mashiki Pudding!
At 250 yen each, the simple, straightforward pricing makes them easy to grab and try. ( *´艸`)

Classic Pudding — 250 yen

Coffee Pudding — 250 yen

Black Sesame Pudding — 250 yen

Each one looks absolutely irresistible…

First, I picked up some dagashi for my child, lol.

The fun part? Many come with “lucky prize” chances—and I couldn’t help checking to see if I won, too! lol

And then, of course, I had to try the Mashiki Pudding — 250 yen!

It’s absolutely packed with rich black sesame! ( *´艸`)

I’m a huge black sesame fan, so this was pure dessert bliss for me. ( *´艸`)

So silky-smooth and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! (´;ω;`)!!

The texture is so soft and creamy, it just glides down!
The sweetness is gentle—never overpowering—making it incredibly easy to enjoy!

And the black sesame pairs spectacularly with the caramel sauce!

The nutty richness of black sesame
and the gentle sweetness of pudding
are perfectly tied together by the bittersweet caramel!

It has a slightly grown-up flavor that makes it disappear like a refreshing drink!

Before you know it, this beloved pudding is gone.

Both the staff and the customers radiate such warmth—
it’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit again and again!
