Today I’m excited to introduce you to
“Ogura no Karaage Ozu Branch”,
located in Ozu, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture — a must-try spot for anyone who loves Japanese fried chicken (karaage).

You’ll find the shop right across from Daiso Ozu Store — super easy to spot!
Parking is conveniently located right in front of the shop.

A large traditional noren curtain hangs at the entrance.
Just seeing it is enough to get your stomach growling!

Inside the shop, there are vending machines and an eat-in corner.
They even offer free Wi-Fi!

All the signs of a place where you’ll want to linger

Right next to the eat-in corner, you’ll find complimentary soup and water.
It’s such a thoughtful touch that really makes you feel welcome!

There are table seats too — and right now, they’re packed!

You can really feel just how popular this place is.

If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend giving yourself plenty of time!

This time, I went for
Sweet & Spicy Ginger Stick — 250 yen

I mean, ginger? It HAS to be delicious. There’s just no way it isn’t.

The moment I picked one up, I was blown away by the size!

And the sweet & spicy sauce coats every inch beautifully.

UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS

The rich sauce paired with that fragrant ginger is an unbeatable combination.
The sesame seeds add the perfect accent — I literally couldn’t stop eating!

And the chicken itself is wonderfully tender and easy to bite into.

Before I knew it, I was down to my very last piece.
And that pool of sauce at the bottom? Way too tempting to ignore.

So here’s what you do
Coat that last piece thoroughly with the leftover sauce!

Take a bite, dip again, take another bite, dip again —
I savored every last drop of that ginger goodness right to the end.

Seriously, this is so addictive.

Even as I’m writing this, I’m fighting the urge to go buy more!
