📌 What you’ll learn from this article
A SaruKuma writer visits and reports on “Otsu Central Park” located in Otsu, Kikuchi District. Includes family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello there!
I’m Binako, a writer for SaruKuma!

Today I’m introducing
Otsu Central Park located in Otsu, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The park boasts wide open spaces and several pieces of playground equipment perfect for even the youngest of children (^^♪

You’ll find a sandbox, an elephant slide, and a small balance-beam-style play structure, among other things ^^

It’s such a relief to find playground equipment suitable for kids as young as one year old ♪
The park itself is roomy too, so children have plenty of space to run around freely!

During the warmer months, cooling shower mist sprayers are installed,
so visitors can play comfortably even on hot days!

Such thoughtful touches really put parents at ease ♪

Toward the back of the park, there’s an even larger open area
where people jog or play with balls (*´Д`)

Multiple benches are scattered throughout the park, including covered ones with roofs—
perfect for taking a breather ^^

The restrooms include an accessible/multipurpose toilet
and a diaper changing station, so even on long park visits
you can keep an eye on the kids without rushing (#^.^#)

There are two large parking lots—one in front and one in the back—with around 40 spaces total,
so unless something extraordinary is happening, you’ll almost always find a spot (*´ω`*)

Vending machines are also on-site,
so even if you forget to bring drinks, you’ll be just fine (^^

Plus, there’s a Direx discount store and a Daiso 100-yen shop right in front of the park, making last-minute shopping super convenient!

Highlights & Recommendations

The kids absolutely loved the playground equipment lol

There’s a dog-shaped (?) seesaw, and the children took turns
climbing on and rocking back and forth over and over.

Right next to it stands

that classic wobbly spring rider you find in every park lol

What’s that piece of equipment even called…?

Then there’s a turtle-shaped (?) play structure they were playing on.

According to my child, it’s actually

“the caterpillar playground”

apparently.
Wait—a caterpillar?!

It comes with two slides, so kids can slide down from either side ^^

This is the back of the “caterpillar play structure.”
Kids can climb up and down from any direction,
so they can move around smoothly without bottlenecks ( *´艸`)

Quite the surreal scene, isn’t it.

Otsu Central Park feels like a true community oasis—
locals and visitors alike drop in casually, with people of all ages
enjoying it in their own ways!

Another wonderful perk is that the playground equipment isn’t very tall,
so it’s easy to keep an eye on the little ones ^^

It’s a relaxed, easygoing park, so be sure to stop by when you’re in the area!
