Hello, food lovers!
It’s Binako, your Sarukuma writer with an unstoppable appetite!

Today we’re heading to
Nishikigaoka in Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City,
to a delightful little spot called
“Gochisou③” (Gochisou-san).

Just look at that adorable signboard illustration! (*´Д`)
And the “③” in the shop’s name — there must be a story behind it…
Now I’m really curious!

I bet the character is modeled after someone real! (laughs)

There’s one parking spot right next to the shop — perfect for a quick stop!

They actually sell organic vegetables here too!^^
Every single one looks vibrant, fresh, and absolutely delicious. ( *´艸`)

Some had even sold out by the time I arrived!

They also offer handmade scrunchies and aprons —
so cute, you’ll want to take one home as a souvenir!^^

I arrived right after opening, but the main sandwiches had already sold out!

Talk about popular — that says it all!

Luckily, the owner’s wife was making a fresh batch in the back,
and when I asked, the owner kindly had some prepared for me. (^^♪

Thank you so much!

Beyond sandwiches, you’ll also find
sweet pastries, shio-pan (Japanese salted butter rolls), and cream-filled buns^^

Customers were grabbing these too — clearly fan favorites!

Other tempting options include:

Chocolate Scone — 240 yen

Pistachio Kouglof — 250 yen

Perfect little treats to enjoy after lunch! (*´Д`)

Inside, there are two chairs where customers can wait while their order is being prepared.^^

Recommended Menu

Sandwich & Soup Set — 750 yen

An incredibly affordable lunch combo! (^^♪

The soup changes daily —

today’s was
Kita-akari Potato Soup (made with a premium Japanese potato variety)! ♪

Homemade Fermented Enzyme Soda — 300 yen

Yes, you read that right!

Plum Enzyme Soda

Strawberry Enzyme Soda

Pineapple Soda

Three refreshing flavors to choose from! ♪

Today’s order:

Plum Enzyme Soda — 300 yen

Grilled Sandwich — 450 yen

Garden Sandwich — 450 yen

So good!

And here’s the kicker — all four sandwich varieties are a flat 450 yen! (*´Д`) Such a steal.

This Plum Enzyme Soda
is absolutely incredible.

Light, fizzy, and refreshingly clean on the palate —
I gulped the entire thing down in seconds! (laughs)

Plus, fermented enzymes are amazing for your body,
so this drink menu is a real bonus. (*´Д`)

Behold — the Grilled Sandwich!

Even through the wrapping, you can see the volume!
Veggies are practically bursting out — you can barely see the bread underneath!

Packed with okra, goya (bitter melon), and so many other fresh vegetables — incredibly satisfying!

And the veggies themselves? Mind-blowingly delicious.
One bite and I was hooked.

So crisp, so juicy — the moment I took a bite I literally shouted:

“Wait, this is TOO good!”

The meat tucked inside was tender and juicy too.
And the bread? Soft, fluffy, and pillowy — pure perfection!

Now for the Garden Sandwich!

Stuffed wall-to-wall with vegetables.
Again — the freshness of these veggies is unreal.

The bacon is grilled to perfection, and the black pepper ties it all together beautifully.

Every single vegetable bursts with garden-fresh flavor.
That satisfying crunch combined with the pillow-soft bread —
your heart, stomach, and soul will all be happy.

You’ll fall in love with how delicious vegetables can be —
definitely a must-visit when you’re in Kumamoto!
