📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits Patisserie Frevant in Kumamoto City’s Chuo Ward (Kuwamizu area) and shares an honest report. Family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours all included.

Hello, travelers!
This is Ayu-mama, writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’d like to introduce you to a delightful little cake shop located in Kuwamizu, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
Patisserie Frevant (Kashi Kobo Frevant)

Patisserie Frevant sits along Kencho-dori (Prefectural Office Avenue), right near the Kuwamizu intersection.
The shop has parking for about two cars right out front.

Directly across the street is the Maxvalu supermarket.
It’s the perfect place to swing by on the way home from grocery shopping.

Though it’s a small shop,
the inside is packed with not just cakes,
but also a wonderful selection of baked goods.

From timeless classic cakes
to autumn-inspired seasonal creations, the variety is wonderful!

Limited-edition seasonal cakes featuring pumpkin, chestnut, and fig
are a true taste-of-the-moment treat you won’t want to miss!

Adorable grandpa and grandma cookies created for Respect for the Aged Day,

cute animal-shaped cookies, fluffy muffins, and madeleines!

The selection of beautifully packaged baked-goods gift sets is also fantastic, perfect for souvenirs!

Inside the shop, you’ll even find a little play area with toys for kids.
Being able to choose cakes calmly while the little ones play is genuinely such a lifesaver for parents — I can’t tell you how grateful I am!

There’s also a wide variety of whole cakes available.

Here’s a little secret — every single year, our family orders my son’s birthday cake from Patisserie Frevant!

Here’s this year’s birthday cake — a Pokemon character cake!
Yes, that’s right — a real Pokemon-themed creation!

For an additional fee,
you can request a hand-drawn illustration of any character you like.
The drawings are absolutely adorable, and my son lights up every single time!

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I picked up a Strawberry Shortcake,
a Kuwamizu Pudding, and a Cream Puff!

First up is the timeless number-one bestseller — the Strawberry Shortcake (¥380, tax included).
Light, not-too-sweet whipped cream paired with fluffy sponge cake!
The fruit tucked inside is yellow peach!
Absolutely heavenly! This one is a guaranteed winner.Next is the shop’s signature creation, named after the local neighborhood — the Kuwamizu Pudding (¥150, tax included).
With its silky smooth texture
and perfectly balanced sweetness, you’ll finish it before you know it.
Highly recommended for kids, too!

And finally, the Cream Puff (¥150, tax included).
The outside is a delightfully crunchy almond-topped choux pastry.
And just look at the inside!
It’s overflowing with rich custard.

I personally prefer the crispy choux pastry over the soft fluffy kind,
so this cream puff is exactly my style!

It would also make a delightful little gift to bring along when visiting friends.

Right?!

Whenever you’re stuck choosing the perfect cake for a birthday or souvenir,
I highly recommend Patisserie Frevant!
