Today I’m introducing “Nishikigaoka Park”, located in Nishikigaoka, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City.

It’s a slightly older-style park, but that’s part of its charm — you’ll find playground equipment shaped like tree stumps and adorable mushroom-shaped benches.
The retro vibe is irresistible!
There are restrooms, drinking fountains, and vending machines on site — perfect for spontaneous visits!
And here’s a cool surprise — the park’s perimeter doubles as a walking course!
One lap is 640 meters!
Distance markers are painted right on the ground, so you’ll often see locals walking and jogging along the loop.
It’s a fantastic spot for adults to get some exercise too!

What Makes This Park Special

Without a doubt, the highlight is the dedicated play area for toddlers!
It’s surrounded by a fence for safety, and the ground is covered with a soft, cushioned surface so little ones can tumble worry-free. A multipurpose restroom is conveniently located right behind it.
The swings even have safety bars, so even very young children can swing safely!
A wonderful touch for traveling families!
There’s also a wide grassy lawn — making this a park where everyone, from toddlers to adults, can spend a relaxing afternoon!
