Ko-Ko-Kono KOSHI Kasumiso Hiroba Activity Report: 16th Parent-Child Gathering
2025.07.24

A Look at July’s Gathering
On June 18th, we hosted another session of “Kasumiso Hiroba,” the parent-child gathering space born from SaruKuma!
@sarukoukumamoto
This time, we welcomed back Akko-sensei from “balloon,” a rhythmic music (eurhythmics) class based in Kumamoto City. She was such a hit last year that we had a waiting list of families eager to join!♩

Akko-sensei believes in the power of live music, so she brings her own piano and guitar to the sessions and plays along beautifully, watching the children’s reactions in real time♬
When mums moved their bodies and kept the rhythm, even the tiniest little ones could feel the music and respond in their own adorable ways♪
Halfway through, lights were brought out, adding a magical twist to the activities — everyone was wide-eyed with wonder!
It’s a fun idea you can definitely try at home, too.
Toward the end, all sorts of unusual instruments came out, and the kids were absolutely fascinated by these new sounds and shapes!
The mums, meanwhile, were busy filming their little ones discovering brand-new sides of themselves 😉
And of course, there were also babies sipping milk, others napping peacefully, and a few running around freely…
With no need to worry about judgmental eyes (because everyone here is a mum — we’re all in this together!), the parents truly relaxed and savored the moment. It turned out to be another wonderful gathering.
We wrapped things up with a lovely picture book reading, enjoying a full and joyful hour together♩
Akko-sensei also offers free trial classes — be sure to check out her account for more info!

As always, we borrowed the height/weight scale and a wide variety of toys from Yusui Nursery School Toyooka.

How to Sign Up for the Next Session
The next session will be held on Thursday, August 20th.
We’ll welcome back the popular puppet theater group “Tamatebako,” who delighted everyone last year. They’ll be performing with giant picture books and even some magic tricks!
Older siblings on summer break are warmly invited to join, too♡
Starting this fiscal year, “Kasumiso Hiroba” has moved to the third Wednesday of each month so that it doesn’t overlap with other children’s center events in Koshi City!
(Dates may shift due to instructor schedules or seasonal holidays.)
To sign up for the August session, please use the link below↓

Each month, the principal of Yusui Nursery School Toyooka joins our gatherings.
They kindly lend us toys and equipment for our activities, and bring along a height/weight scale, too.
The principal is more than happy to answer questions about finding nursery care, and even to share what working at a nursery school is really like for those who are curious.
During the gatherings, you might just spot a baby happily settled on the principal’s lap! lol
The principal is super friendly and approachable, so please don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation (^^)
About the Organizers
This is a parent-child gathering space based in Koshi City, but you’re welcome to join whether you live in Koshi or not, and whether your child is a baby or older!
Our hope is that mums and kids can find a moment to chat, take part in fun activities, and enjoy a little breather from daily life.
The gathering is run by current mums in Kumamoto who want to make parenting more enjoyable.
◆ “Riri-san,” who experienced isolated parenting after relocating for her partner’s job, and now wants to help other mums avoid the same loneliness.
She runs a parenting account sharing tips on family-friendly outings and more.
The lovely photos from Kasumiso Hiroba are also taken by Riri-san.

◆ Noda from NPO Sarukou Kumamoto. Hosting family-friendly events and parenting support across the prefecture, all to bring smiles to mums and children.
We design our events so that even those coming alone can join with peace of mind.
Same-day cancellations due to a child feeling unwell are perfectly fine — please feel free to sign up without hesitation!
Follow us on Instagram for daily updates!
SaruKuma shares lunch spots, parks, indoor play areas, and more — everything Kumamoto’s parenting community needs.
Thanks so much for following along(*´∀`*)
