A SaruKuma writer visits Igusa no Sato Park in Senchomachi, Yatsushiro City, in person and shares the full report. We cover family-friendly highlights, access, and opening hours.
About Igusa no Sato Park
Hello, this is Aikero, a writer for SaruKuma.
Today I’m introducing a wonderful local park in Senchomachi, Yatsushiro City:
Igusa no Sato Park.
Tucked just off the Kagami Route, Igusa no Sato Park offers a roller slide and combination playground equipment that are a total blast!
The roller slide isn’t too long, so climbing back to the top is easy β we ended up sliding more than 30 times in a row!
It’s a park where toddlers, elementary schoolers, and parents can all have fun together as a family.
There’s a parking lot too, and since the park isn’t too sprawling, it’s easy to keep an eye on the kids β a real plus for parents! (^^)/
This park was previously covered by our writer Maru-san as well.
Even as a writer and a regular SaruKuma reader, I had no idea such a great park existed!
You’ll find the park along Prefectural Road 14 (the Kagami Route), directly across from Sencho Junior High School.
It sits a little back from the main road β I’d actually driven past this spot many times without ever realizing there was a park here!
The parking lot fits about 10 cars.
There’s a hand-washing station and a covered rest area with benches.
There’s something that looks like a fountain, but no water was running.
The signage also notes that water play is not allowed, so please keep that in mind.
Here are the restrooms.
They’re located a short walk from the parking lot.
The women’s restroom only has Japanese-style squat toilets.
There’s a diaper-changing station available.
There’s no lighting inside, so it stays a bit dim even during the day β families with young children may prefer using the multipurpose restroom instead.
This is the multipurpose restroom.
If you prefer a Western-style toilet, this is the one to use.
There is no diaper-changing station in this restroom.
There are also vending machines near the restrooms.
There’s a pond right next to the restrooms, and my son had a great time spotting birds there!
Top Highlights of Igusa no Sato Park

When it comes to parks, the playground equipment is what really matters!
Igusa no Sato Park has a combination playground structure with a slide built in.
Everything is built fairly low to the ground, so even little ones can play safely.
This climbing section looks a little more challenging.
The whole structure is connected through the middle.
That’s a pretty unusual design, isn’t it?
Even small kids can usually climb it on their own, which makes for great exercise! (^^)/
The spiral slide was a little nerve-racking the first time, but after one go it became an instant favorite my kids wanted to ride over and over.
I tried it myself too β and honestly, it’s surprisingly addictive! (laugh)
Climb a little hill and you’ll find the famous roller slide!
There’s another covered rest area up here too, with a great view β a perfect spot to relax.
Here’s how long the roller slide is.
A lot of roller slides are super long, which means you have to trudge back up a tough flight of stairs every single time⦠(laugh)
That’s why kids usually slide once or twice and call it a day.
But this one is the perfect length β short enough that climbing back up is easy, so you can ride again and again!
Thinking, “Wouldn’t a shorter slide be less fun?”
Not a chance! It actually picks up real speed partway down, so it’s short but seriously thrilling!
There was almost no one else there during our visit, and the kids slid down it more than 30 times in a row! (^_^;)
My bottom got pretty toasty at first, but by the second half I was so caught up in having fun with the kids that I forgot all about it. (laugh)
Watching my kids have such a blast made me happy, and we’ll definitely be back! (And honestly, I want another turn on that slide too! β)
There are also spring-mounted ride-on toys, and
a fitness area for adults too β so kids and parents alike can have a great time! (*’Ο’*)
There’s also an open lawn area perfect for ball games.
We visited during the New Year’s holidays and flew kites!
Bringing along badminton rackets or a ball will make your visit even more fun.
After a chorus of “We want to come back again!” from the kids, it’s officially on our return-visit list. β
Igusa no Sato Park, with playground equipment so fun you’ll want to ride it again and again.
Yatsushiro City has plenty of parks with large playground structures.
This one isn’t the biggest or flashiest β but it earned a top spot on my daughter’s favorites list!
It’s a place where the whole family can play, laugh, and make memories together.
If you haven’t visited yet, please give it a try! (*’Ο’*)
