Introducing Yakiniku Hormone Kutamiya Jindai

Hello, travelers! I’m Gussan, a writer for SaruKuma.
Today I’m taking you to Jindai in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, to visit
Yakiniku Hormone Kutamiya Jindai — a beloved Japanese BBQ (yakiniku) restaurant.
Located near Kencho-dori (Prefectural Office Street), directly across from the MaxValu supermarket, the restaurant is easy to find. There’s plenty of parking — over 25 spaces in front, beside, and across from the building, so driving here is a breeze.
Here’s the table seating area. You’ll find tables for two, four, and six guests — perfect for couples, friends, or families.
Other guests were already seated when we visited, so we couldn’t snap a photo, but there are also traditional tatami-style private rooms (zashiki). These private spaces are ideal for families with kids — you can relax without worrying about disturbing other diners.
Now let’s check out the menu (all prices exclude tax). The combo platters are the best value:
Gorgeous Kutamiya Meat Platter (3,980 yen), Premium Kutamiya Meat Platter (4,980 yen), and Special Kutamiya Meat Platter (2,980 yen) — all cheaper than ordering each cut individually ♡

True to its name, the restaurant boasts an impressive variety of hormone (offal/innards) — a classic Japanese yakiniku specialty.
Try the Harami Brothers (590 yen) or Three-Hormone Combo (590 yen).
If you love spicy food, you’ll want to sample the Spicy Chicken Neck (490 yen) and Spicy Hormone Mix (980 yen).
Beef Yukke (1,180 yen), Beef Liver Sashimi (980 yen), Premium Wagyu Karubi/Short Rib (890 yen),
Salted Beef Tongue (490 yen), Salted Hormone (490 yen), plus tasty veggie sides like Premium Kimchi (390 yen) and Addictive Cabbage (390 yen).
There are also rice dishes, noodles, soups, and desserts to round out your meal.
My top recommendation is the All-You-Can-Eat Course (3,980 yen), which lets you choose from 60 menu items.
There’s also a Standard Course (2,980 yen) with 30 items and the most lavish Premium Course (4,980 yen).
Here’s the drink menu. There’s even a drink bar that includes all-you-can-eat soft serve ice cream — a sweet treat for kids and adults alike.
Kutamiya is famous for its all-you-can-drink Lemon Sour (500 yen for 60 minutes).
The twist? Each table has its own self-serve tap — pour your own lemon sour straight from the faucet!
No waiting, no flagging down a server — it’s a fun, modern take on Japanese izakaya hospitality.
Two dipping sauces are offered: raw miso and raw soy. Both are unheated, preserving their fresh, fragrant flavor.
Don’t you sometimes feel awkward calling the server over for every little thing?
At Yakiniku Hormone Kutamiya Jindai, you can order extras like kids’ plates and forks via tablet — no language barrier, no fuss. A huge plus for international visitors and families.
And here’s a fun bonus — “Kuu-chan,” a cute service robot, sometimes delivers your food right to your table. The kids absolutely loved it!

Recommended Dishes at Yakiniku Hormone Kutamiya Jindai

This visit, we ordered à la carte.Bean Sprout Namul (390 yen) and Kakuteki radish kimchi (390 yen).
Perfect palate cleansers between rich grilled meats. The kids loved the namul so much they took the whole plate (haha)!
Wakame Seaweed Soup (290 yen).
A hearty bowl loaded with seaweed — comforting and savory.
Special Kutamiya Meat Platter (2,980 yen).
Really generous portions — this size was perfect for our family.
Bulgogi Kimbap (590 yen).
A gentle sweetness that pairs wonderfully with grilled meats.
Beef Yukke (1,180 yen).
Oops — I mixed it before snapping the photo (-.-;)
By the way, Yakiniku Hormone Kutamiya Jindai is ranked #1 most popular yakiniku restaurant in Kumamoto.
We visited on a Saturday night and saw guests waiting for tables — so we strongly recommend making a reservation in advance.
While the menu options for infants and toddlers are limited, we saw plenty of families with elementary-school-aged kids enjoying themselves.
Lunch service is also a great-value, delicious option — definitely worth a visit during your Kumamoto trip!
