Today I’m excited to introduce you to
Yoshimachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City‘s very own
Tamukae Yoshimachi Park!

You’ll find this hidden gem just to the west of Hamasen Health Park (previously featured on Saru-Kuma by writer Ayu Mama),
and the lovely Kase River runs nearby too!

Hamasen Health Park: A Place Where Adults and Kids Both Get Healthy! (Yoshimachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City)

Heads up: there’s no parking lot at the park, so plan accordingly!

Here’s the restroom!
Note that it’s a Japanese-style (squat) toilet, and unfortunately there’s no diaper-changing station available.

There’s also a covered bench — perfect for shade or a quick rest!

The drinking fountain sits right in the middle of a beautifully kept flower bed — how charming is that?!

The grassy area is surprisingly spacious — plenty of room to stretch out and relax!

You can even work out your abs and back muscles using the fitness equipment!

There are two horizontal bars — one tall, one short — so parents and kids can play side by side!

What Makes This Park Special

For play equipment, kids will love this combination playset!

Plus swings!

And a sandbox too!

One small note: there used to be a Tarzan rope near the fitness equipment, but unfortunately it’s currently out of service due to wood decay. Such a shame!

Surrounded by farmland and homes, the park feels
wonderfully open and relaxing — a real breath of fresh air!

I was also struck by how beautifully maintained the lawn and flower beds are — clearly cared for with love.

While there are no vending machines on-site,
there’s a FamilyMart convenience store right nearby, so grabbing drinks or snacks is easy!

If you’re in the area, definitely stop by for a peaceful afternoon outdoors!
