About the Park

Today I’m taking you to Kasuga, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City, where you’ll discover a delightful little gem called Kasuga 3-chome Otemoyan Park!

The location is incredibly convenient — just a 1-minute walk from the West Exit of Kumamoto Station!

Which means you can watch real Shinkansen bullet trains zoom past at close range — what a thrill (≧▽≦)!!

Look at this adorable clock! ♬
It seems to be inspired by Otemoyan, Kumamoto’s beloved folk-song heroine (*’ω’*)

There’s one covered bench tucked into the park — a nice spot for a quick break in the shade.

You’ll also find a drinking fountain on site — handy for staying hydrated!

The restroom is Western-style (sit-down toilet).
Note that there’s no diaper-changing station available (>_<)

There are three more benches like this one scattered around the park!

And here’s a quirky multi-person seesaw I spotted (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ
Looks like it’s designed for three or four kids at a time!

And a classic chin-up bar!

The Star Attraction

The absolute must-see here is, without a doubt, this Shinkansen play structure!!! (≧▽≦)
Kids will sprint straight for it — and grown-ups can’t help but get excited too ☆

The slide looks just like a bullet train pulling out of the station! (*^▽^*)

You can even hop off mid-ride at one of the “stations” along the way! (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ

And check this out — a front-and-back style seesaw!

It’s also designed in a Shinkansen motif — how cute is that!

I had no idea a park could be this packed with Shinkansen charm — even I was blown away!
