Introducing Kita-Nagamizo Park

Hello, this is Gussan, a writer for [SaruKuma].
Today I’d like to introduce a spot in Eza, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
[Kita-Nagamizo Park].
A laid-back park tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood.
What surprised me was that even in the middle of summer, the grass was nicely trimmed.
(Don’t you usually picture summer parks as overgrown jungles?)
There’s a swing set big enough for four kids,
a sandbox (though the sand was packed flat, so maybe not many kids use it),
and horizontal bars at different heights.
What a funny pose lol
What’s that move called again?
The word just won’t come to me… (sweat)
We arrived early in the morning, and the local grandpas and grandmas playing gateball greeted us with cheerful “good mornings” and “how cute!” — such a heartwarming moment.
It was so hot that we took a break on a wooden bench, but just sitting there made us drip with sweat!
Summer parks in Japan are no joke!

Highlights of Kita-Nagamizo Park

Our top recommendation is this combination play structure.
Its design has a charming “tiny universe” vibe to it.

The kids climbed all over the jungle gym,
and tried to shimmy up the poles, but no one could make it to the top under their own power, so they ended up just walking up the stairs and sliding down the slide instead! Haha

The summer heat is finally easing up, and it’s becoming the perfect season for park visits — what a treat! ♪
