Today I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem in Minamifukuji, Minamata City:
Nakaoyama Park.

Perched on one of the highest points in Minamata, Nakaoyama Park offers sweeping panoramic views over the city, the sea, and even the islands of Amakusa in the distance. Let me show you around! (^^)v

Here’s the parking area — easy to find and spacious. (^-^)

There’s even an observation deck right next to the parking lot!

Tables and chairs are set up alongside the deck, so you can enjoy a coffee or tea with the view before you even step into the park itself. (^^)v

Restrooms are conveniently located near the park entrance.

The two-story restroom building includes a diaper-changing station on the first floor — perfect for families with babies. (^-^)

And here’s the entrance to the second-floor restroom.

There’s also a generous covered rest area where you can relax in the shade — wonderfully open and breezy! \(^^)/

The grassy lawn is huge — plenty of space for kids to run around or families to picnic! Here you’ll find another covered rest area, with a stone stage right next to it where local events and performances are held. (^^)v

NAKAOYAMA SKY ROAD!!

The Nakaoyama Sky Road awaits!

From the parking lot, a long elevated walkway — almost like a sky bridge — leads you into the heart of the park. (*^^*)

Even just walking along it, you’re treated to breathtaking views the whole way! (^o^)/

At the far end of the park stands the iconic White Observation Tower!!

Both stairs and a ramp lead up to the tower, so it’s easily accessible — even with a stroller. (^^)v

The steps are nice and shallow, making it easy for little ones to climb up too. (^-^)

After the ramp and stairs, you’ll find more tables and chairs!

Honestly, there are seating spots scattered everywhere throughout the park, so you can pick your favorite view and enjoy lunch or a snack break. (^^)v Then it’s onward — up one final flight of stairs!

Climb up these stairs and…

You’ll find yet another bench waiting!

And then — a stunning panoramic view of Minamata City and the sea unfolds before you!

The park is filled with cherry blossom trees, and from the observation tower in spring, you can enjoy a magical double view of pink sakura blossoms framed against the blue sea. (*^^*)

In autumn, the cosmos garden bursts into bloom — the tower surrounded by waves of pink cosmos flowers makes for an absolutely picture-perfect scene!

The playground area features three different bouldering-style climbing structures for kids to enjoy. (^-^)

Sitting high above Minamata City, Nakaoyama Park offers spectacular views year-round — a perfect spot for cherry blossoms in spring, cosmos in autumn, and stunning vistas in every season. Come and experience it for yourself! \(^^)/
