Hello there!
This is Ayu-mama, writer for “SaruKuma.”

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in Showa-machi, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
【Mine Sushi Honten】
This long-established Kumamoto favorite also offers delivery and catering!
There’s a parking lot conveniently located behind the restaurant.
(The parking lot photo was taken on a different day, which is why it’s a daytime shot.)

I dropped by for dinner this time!
Inside, you’ll find private table rooms as well as traditional tatami seating with sunken kotatsu (horigotatsu).
Credit cards are accepted, too — convenient for travelers.

There’s chirashi sushi, rice bowls, and so much more — it’s hard to choose!

They even serve local Kumamoto specialties! I want to try everything!

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I ordered the Nigiri Sushi Set (with soup) for 1,350 yen and the
Kids’ Sushi Set (with drink and toy) for 1,200 yen.
Just look at the size of those nigiri toppings!

Wow — what a luxurious treat!
The nori rolls in the kids’ set are printed with Kumamon — Kumamoto’s famous bear mascot!
So adorable! (^^)
The sushi is also cut into smaller, easy-to-eat pieces — a thoughtful touch for little ones!
The side dishes are generous, too!
We also tried:
Oyster Tempura

And the Tuna Katsu — both delicious!
(I was so caught up enjoying the food that I forgot to snap a photo of the prices… my bad! -_-b)

Our family usually opts for conveyor-belt sushi, so it was a real treat to dine at a proper traditional sushi restaurant for a change!
