Curry House Ghee – About the Restaurant

Hello there!
It’s Maru, writer for Sarukuma πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒ

On hot days, nothing hits the spot like curry! So I dropped by one of Kumamoto’s most talked-about curry shops πŸ‘³πŸ›

Today I’m introducing a wonderful little spot tucked away in Koto, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Curry House Ghee”.

You’ll find it just off the East Bypass (Higashi Bypass), a short detour from the Okashi-no-Kobai Koto branch (a popular Kumamoto sweets shop).

It’s a cozy, compact shop, so keep your eyes peeled β€” it’s easy to miss!
Right next door is “Daikoku-san,” a popular and budget-friendly local greengrocer.

There’s parking for one car beside the shop, plus three more spaces around back. πŸš™πŸ’¨

On Sundays, you’re also welcome to park at the neighboring “Daikoku-san.”

Inside, you’ll find counter seating…

…and table seating, too.

The restroom is located outside, just past the back door.

Curry House Ghee – Recommended Menu

The set menu includes a salad and drink.

β˜… Pork Katsu Curry – 1,100 yen
β˜… Chicken Katsu Curry – 1,100 yen

β˜… Holiday Lunch – 1,100 yen (includes salad and drink)

On the day I visited, the Holiday Lunch was sausage curry.

There are plenty of other curries on the regular menu, too.

You can pick your spice level all the way from mild β€” a thoughtful touch! (^O^)
There’s even a Kids’ Curry topped with sausage for 680 yen πŸ‘¦πŸ‘§

This time I went for the set with salad and drink.

And here it is β€” the shop’s signature Chicken Katsu Curry!

The chicken cutlet is enormous! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† And that vibrant turmeric rice ✨

Now I see why everyone raves about this place! That curry roux is divine 😍

I went with the slightly spicy option. It’s beautifully spicy, but you can still taste the natural sweetness and umami of the vegetables underneath.
The sauce is on the lighter, smoother side β€” really easy to eat (^^).

The breading is light and incredibly crispy! The chicken and curry make a perfect tag team (^O^).

And here’s the Pork Katsu Curry.

It looks pretty much identical to the Chicken Katsu Curry (haha), but the pork version is just as wonderful πŸ˜‹

The pickled rakkyo (Japanese scallions) and tsukemono pickles on the side are an absolute must as palate cleansers.

I finished things off with a coffee β€” pure satisfaction! β™ͺ
This summer, treat yourself to a taste of Curry House Ghee 🌞🌻
