Welcome to Coco Crepe

Hello travelers! I’m Gachako, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to Coco Crepe, a delightful new crepe shop that recently opened right next to JR Tamana Station — perfect for a sweet stop during your Kumamoto travels!

JR Tamana Station is easy to spot thanks to its iconic large bell at the entrance!
The area is always lively with students heading home from school and locals out enjoying their weekends.

Here’s what the shop looks like from outside. It’s literally right beside the station entrance, so you absolutely cannot miss it.

If it looks familiar, that’s because the owners also run a popular crepe food truck around town!
Their food truck always seemed to have a queue of young fans waiting to grab a treat — so I had high expectations for this new brick-and-mortar location.

If you’re driving, you can use the station parking lot directly in front of the shop. The first 20 minutes are free, and even if you take your time enjoying your visit, the fee should only come to around 100 yen!

And the menu? It’s massive! Just choosing what to order is half the fun!

・Simple Crepe
・Sauce Crepe
・Banana Crepe
・Strawberry Crepe
・Nuts and Oreo Crepe

And for the truly indulgent:
・Special Crepe (loaded with cake!)

The printed menu alone features 21 different crepes, and there are even more seasonal options posted inside the shop. With prices starting from just 350 yen, it’s wonderfully easy on your travel budget!

You can also pair your crepe with a drink set — choose from coffee, juice, and more — at a discounted price.

Looking for something more filling? They also offer Japanese bento boxes like Umekatsu Bento (pork cutlet with pickled plum) and classic Tonkatsu Bento (breaded pork cutlet)!

Light bites are on the menu too, including onigiri (Japanese rice balls) and yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) — perfect for a quick travel-day snack!

Our Recommended Picks at Coco Crepe

My daughter and I each picked out a crepe to try. The shop’s interior features adorable Tiffany blue walls — totally Instagram-worthy!
We couldn’t resist snapping a few photos before our crepe “cheers” moment ♪

Oreo Chocolate (550 yen) and

Strawberry Chocolate (550 yen)

Both crepes are generously filled with both whipped cream and rich custard cream — a delicious double layer that keeps every bite flavorful right down to the last. The crepe batter is wonderfully soft and chewy (mochi-mochi!), leaving us pleasantly full and completely satisfied.

The shop is run by a lovely couple — a wife who always dreamed of opening her own café, supported by her wonderful husband. With new menu items still in the works, this is definitely a spot to keep your eye on. So, when you’re traveling through Tamana in Kumamoto, please make sure to drop by Coco Crepe for a sweet treat!
